I have E70 wheels on my E53, Ive tried two different types of hub centric rings (plastic and aluminum). While it is night and day with and without I still have a vibration right at 60MPH.

Prior to getting the rings I thought it was a balance issue. I had all 4 wheels road force balanced and the vibration was a little less. The mechanic mentioned that the rings were necessary. I got tried both types of rings and while it is pretty much the same.

I just got back from having just the fronts road forced balanced again. It is slightly better but it still shakes at 60. I am ready to put my E53 wheels back on.

Any ideas? My 19" E53 sport wheels were vibration free, new wheels are E70 wheels with latitudes run flats.

The plastic ones are pretty useless but the alloy ones should be fine although if they are not anodised, they will wear.

Have you got staggered tyre sizes if not, try swapping front to rear. I would suspect either you have distorted tyres, in which case its a great opportunity to dump those run-flats, or your thrust arm bushings are worn.

It certainly sounds to me like a distorted tyre. Were they new or used tyres?
