So, 2001 X5 no DSP, no Nav. I do the install according to Dice manual, but I cannot get the CD Changer option to show by pushing the mode button. I just get FM and CD. I do the Dice dance for a while, disconnecting and connecting with no joy. I then probe the 3 pin power connector in the CD Changer rear compartment (pins 1 & 2 - should be 12v with ignition on) Yes, it is the CD power connector, not the phone power connector. No juice. I checked fuses in the glove box, but nothing CD related. So, have I missed a fuse somewhere? There is a "placeholder " for a CD Changer fuse in the other rear panel, but it is not wired to anything. Does this mean I am not prewired for cd Changer? There has never been a CD Changer in this vehicle, btw. Thanks for any help |

Tom, Thanks for the reply. I have the correct connector in the trunk area, but no voltage is present. Pins 1 & 2 should have 12v with ignition on, correct?
I pulled the head unit and checked the radio fuse, and also the fuse in the glove box (just says radio). Any ideas? thanks |

Tom, I have no power to the 3 Pin prewired connector. Is there a fuse for it somewhere?

There is a fuse panel inside the glovebox, check to see if any fuses have blown.

Tom, all relevant fuses are good. Still no power to the 3 pin cd power connector. there is also no power to the 3 pin telephone power connector, so seemingly no power at all to the prewired power connectors. What do you think?

Something is likely severed within the wiring, the short will need to be traced.

Thanks Tom. I just called my local BMW dealer, and one of the techs there suggested that the vehicle needs "programming" to activate the power sources, and I should bring the car in. Does this sound right? I don't want to pay for 2 hours of shop time for this. This is supposed to be plug and play!! I am thinking of just cutting the wires and splicing in directly to the battery, and then just going with a griffin itrip if that doesn't work.

The middle wire is a simply +12V switched source if you would like to have one spliced in yourself. I would recommend finding the source of the issue before going this route.
