I know the 4.8is can go way past 140 mph. I know this for sure. I stopped paying attention to the speedo after that, but it kept pulling hard. I sustained this speed for a while as it was way too settled, and eerie how stable it was. Plus you don't get many opportunities to try that out. The craziest part is the wind noise. I thought the pano roof would come out.

Replaced the fuel filter. What a PITA for that dumba$$ protection shield. Anyways, all buttoned up and done. I think I'd rather do the valley pan gasket instead of that dumb thing.

Just ticked 117K on the clock.

GPS or speedo verified? ECM puts an end to acceleration at 153 mph. I've seen 147 mph on GPS with the speedo showing almost 155 mph. '03 4.4 sport pkg, this was the first year of V rated tires OE with the base spt pkg wheels, allowed BMW to remove the limiter (was a consideration in purchase of my E53).

What was crazy was the minute and 2 miles it took to reach that velocity from a 90 mph roll, gives the driver lots of time to think about all the things that can go wrong!.

Crazy wind noise is over 190 mph in a Henessey modded RT Viper, sounds like an F4 Fantom on full afterburner is flying 10 ft above the roof!!!! Lost a soft-top on a high speed pass thru Sarasota FL about 10 yrs ago, dealer replaced it no charge ($3800. part), was told NEVER exceed 130 mph with soft-top.
