Centre console has to come out to be done properly, you want the di noc to wrap around the edges and go under the trim otherwise it will start to life off in corners. Remember di noc is very forgiving and the results are well worth it in the end ![]() |

I just bought my vinyl on eBay and made sure it was 3M. For the price it was worth giving it try even if I had to practice a little.
I have the piano black interior already and that was why I bought this vehicle but I am ready for a change and with the vinyl you can take it off later to change it back. Just do a search on youtube and you will get all the videos you want on vinyl and how to do it. Heating it is the key as it will not really sitck until you heat it up. I just used my wife's hairdryer on the HOT setting and it worked fine. You want the heat hot enough to feel really hot on your hand but not burn you. Once I find a thread on how to take the center console piece out I will get started on it. I am also going to do the shiter center piece as well. Shawn

Not letting go of the piano black. It was too hard to find and I searched for some time to find this car. Even sacrificed on the high miles to get it.
Just always tinkering and changing so I will get tired of the red someday as well. Now to put some red leather interior in it as well. Shawn

I just spent all morning reading about 3m vinyl and I think I will order a few samples and try it out, apparently 1080 Scotchprint vinyl is easy as hell to use. I will probably wrap the easier trim pieces myself like the 4 door pieces, and then take my center console piece to my tint shop and toss them a couple bucks so that piece looks professional. I've never been good with vinyl lol. And I'll have to either figure how to get the wood trim separated from the manual shifter or just get a new leather shift knob with no wood trim.
What is the OE piano black like? Does it have any metallic flake at all? I was going to order Gloss Black, Gloss Black Metallic, White Aluminum (looks like Titan Silver), and Sterling Silver samples to see if I wanted to do the black or if I could try a color that looks a lot like Titan Silver to match the door pulls/gauge rings. The Di-Noc carbon fiber stuff looks nice, but I'm not into CF at all. The 1080 Scotchprint is only about 3-4 per square foot, looks like I can get 20 sq feet for around 50 bucks.

The 3M Brushed and the Di-Noc I tried out were very easy to work. You need a heat gun. Don't bother if you don't have one. The good thing about this material, like vinyl is that you can bend and pull. Since its thicker it gives you a bit more ability to get away with flaws... BUT if you over stretch it you also run the risk of messing with the pattern. But really its not very to do. If you are buying a roll you will have plenty left over to re-do.
If you don't want to deal with vinyl just go with paint. On my E39 M5 I paid $225 for all the pieces including the steering wheel lower trim. It came out perfect and matched my exterior. Carbon or Sapphire Black trim looks amazing, more depth than just gloss black but that also looks good. Reps. I know I suck ![]() I got them from A-Spec. They sold me 20" Ferric Gray 215s for my E70d, as you can see in my signature below. I got some curb rash on them after letting a few family members use the car. I ordered a new set in Hyperblack so I decided to have these cleaned up and painted gloss black for lil bro's ride. I think they came out great.
