OK, I'm confused. Do I have DSP, or don't I? 04 X5, non nav....
I bought a DICE Mediabridge to integrate my phone and an iPod. Didn't buy a DPS adapter because I didn't think I had DSP. Found the 6 pin and 3 pin connectors hidden in the left rear, ran the cables, hooked everything up, system sees an iPod and a BT phone connection, but there's no sound. Everything displays on the correctly on the MID from the iPod, I have steering wheel controls, people can hear me via the BT connection for the phone, I just can't hear anything that's going through the Mediabridge. Did multiple firmware updates, just in case. Confirmed there is signal going back up the cable to the back of the single CD player (where the changer would normally plug in). Was reading a thread about aftermarket nav systems, and someone asked how you ID a DSP amplifier. They posted pictures. I looked at my amp. It looks exactly the same. Here is my amp, as installed....sure looks like a DSP amp, doesn't it? |

If you have DSP it will show on the nav screen menu.
I have the media bridge for DSP, works great! Dice Electronics has great tech support. They will walk you through to solve any problems.

Since you don't have Nav, go to the computer menu and scroll through choices.
The following attachment my help. There are also videos at the dice website. http://bavariansoundwerks.com/produc...3_With_DSP.pdf

That is a dsp amp indeed. Take a picture of your mid/cd player. As far as sound, you will need the dsp adapter. I had the same exact problem, both 3 and 6 pin connections, would see the ipod/Sirius, but no sound, installed the adapter and it worked. I started a thread about it in the audio forum. I got the blitz adapter off of amazon, it was cheap and shipped fast. LMK if you have any more questions. What is that bundle of wires and scotch locs? That needs a little cleaning up.
Also, it looks like you have the Bluetooth box right there, why did you get the mediabridge? |

I could never get my phone to link up with the factory installed Bluetooth. It would occasionally see it, but not always, and it wouldn't ever link up. I asked a lot of questions about it when I first bought the X5, and we never came to a consensus about whey it wouldn't link up.
I'll get a DSP adapter ordered....after probably 30 phone calls to DICE and even a swap out of the module, I figured that had to be the only option left. Here's my dash-sorry about the pic quality, the sun was in a bad spot. |

Oh, and the wires are the wiring harness for my 4-pin trailer harness. I got lazy and decided not to cut them to length.

My best guess is that someone replaced the mid in your truck because there were pixels out and they replaced it with a mid that didn't have the DSP button. I would pull the options list, but that looks like a DSP amp
As far as the BT, I believe you had to have a phone that plugged into the center armrest or something along those lines, there is a ton of info about it on the forums, I don't remember the breakdown but its in 04. You can get a new TCU and get the BT working I believe. I have installed a ton of aftermarket BT Kits and they never work like the OE stuff IMO. If it were me I would send back the mediabridge and get the silverline, look at getting the OE BT. |

Well...it's a toss up as to whether the OP has DSP or not. He definitely has a DSP amp (it has 3 connectors on top instead of 2)...but the MID is definitely NOT a DSP MID...the DSP icon would be on the same button as the AUDIO icon.
![]() I'm inclined to agree with LowBlock on this one...more than likely the MID has been replaced by someone who didn't care or didn't know that there are multiple configured MIDs and you have to replace it with the same configuration. This could also be the reason that you aren't getting full functions, too. Your amp isn't compatible with the MID you have installed (or vice-versa). To solve this mystery...you need to pull up you build sheet and see if your X came from the factory with DSP...if it did...then you're gonna need a MID that has DSP to sort this out. Go to this site and put in the last 7 digits of your VIN and correctly answer the math equation, then click the SEARCH button. Scroll down the page when it refreshes with the list of options your X came with and look for option code "S677A HIFI SYSTEM PROFESSIONAL - HIFI SYSTEM PROFESSIONAL DSP" Click here to get your build sheet info: http://tinyurl.com/BMW-VIN-Decode-WebsiteFYI: for those that aren't familiar with the in-dash cassette/CD player & MID...this is what they have instead of the navigation screen. There's a HIGH version (goes with HIGH instrument cluster), a LOW version (goes with LOW instrument cluster) & optional DSP & PHONE buttons...again, if you replace your MID, you have to replace it with one that is optioned the same...if not, you can run into issues: ![]()
