Husky High Flow Aluminum Female Quick Coupler and Plug Set-036-0138H - The Home Depot This is done to provide MAXIMUM volume (CFM) to the tool @ rated pressure (90psi). I've seen mechanics up the pressure regulator to remove tough fasteners, dumb move. Housing failures can remove fingers, or worse, getting your hair parted by an impact hammer!.

Impact is definitely the way to go. In some cases some heat may have to be applied but using the break away letting it soak over night and the impact the next day usually gets the job done. BMW uses the "Mother of Jesus" Torque on bolts and they are always tuff to get off the first time. Try the crank bolt one (another high torqued bolt of a monster) |

Yeah, that 800 ft/lb gun does the trick, even on the crankshaft "Jesus" bolt.
I've expanded my air tool collection (6 new tools) after replacing the little anemic "pancake" compressor with the 5 CFM @ 90 psi Rigid unit. DIYing has gotten MUCH quicker/easier.
