Digital TV and Video Module help

I know that this is an old subject and not too many of you have attempted this, but I have always wanted to see if I could do it. I will not be watching this too often, but just wanted to have it. I need help on how to sync my Video Module. It has taking me awhile to get all the equipment necessary to finish this project and I finally got the last cable to connect the video module to the nav. I used the instruction on bimmerboard.com to connect all the equipment thanks to JAMES and everyone else that put this together. I believe that the VM is not sync and the instruction states to make sure that the tuner's power ground is connected to the car's ground. Otherwise, you will have sync issues and won't be able to even see the VM's menu properly. This is exactly what is going on with my, but I have grounded all the different parts and don’t see any difference. Does anybody know exactly which part has to be grounded and have a picture of it? I know that the ATSC Digital TV Tuner is working fine and all the cable are correct because I can see the Digital TV on my seat headrest’s monitors. Any help will be appreciated.

Here are the instruction on how to connect the ATSC tuner to your VM. I didn't connect the antenna as stated in the instruction, I connected the antenna that came with the kit straight to the ATSC tunner.

this is an old thread and you probably have resolved this issue... but in case if you have not... in the TV setting menu you should choose the US, or USA or the NTSC as the location, and the signal should sync from that point on - your module is probably set to PAL or SECAM as it came from Europe and the monitor is set to NTSC, while your headrest monitors are probably autosensing the type of the signal...

Thanks for your comments. I have not resolved this issue. I did a lot of researchs on this subject and came to the conclusion that this is the result of a grounding problem. I just cannot figure out what I should be grounding. I have tried everything. The TV setting is NTSC.

there are several options for US/NTSC, so, I guess you tried them all... poor grounding usually results in "snow" on the picture, poor grounding results in external interference, say from the alternator, like sound whine, or alternator/engine speed related disturbance on the image.

it seems that you are missing a sync signal from the tuner - check for poor connection or no connections on the pins that go to TV module and the NAV - the "newly" installed harness... there is a pinout for the plugs on bimmernav . com, you can do a simple continuity test on the pins...

That is what I though at first, but after reading a post on BimmerBoard.com by JAMES, it stated that the ground portion of the antenna must be tied to the car's ground. Otherwise he gets sync problems on the display. I will give your recommendation a shot and let you know if it worked. thanks

did you wire up the AV portion of the harness? the one that goes to the rear portion of the center console and sits at one of the 4 openings? 2 openings for the rear seat heaters, one for the AV and the other one for the channel changing button?

If you have the AV wired up, try to disconnect the antenna and engage a video source to the TV module's AV input and see if the picture is still jumpy. then try to feed video source to the rear camera input and activate the rear camera and see if the that picture jumps...

white plug at the TV module, pin 13, rear camera (+), pin 14 rear camera (-)

TV blue plug
pin 17 - when ground applied, the reverse camera feed is activated and overtakes the screen.
