Tint your windows dark for starters, the film keeps the window glass together so if someone were to try to smash the window to get inside, it would be tougher for them to access the interior. Privacy goes a long way towards safety.

Wheel locks are a good start too, and if you can (in your bad neighborhood) try to park under a street light if you can. The positive is that thieves are less likely to come up under a car thats under a light at nighttime, the negative is that the birds that sit on top during the day will shit all over your car.

Last piece of advice? Save your money and move to a nicer place. Not just for your car's piece of mind, but your home too. Nothing is worse than getting your house broken into.

Ok, I didn't post that to come across as condescending....there were a ton of useful suggestions already mentioned. Parking it in a garage out-of-site-out-of-mind would be another alternative.......just meant to throw some humor in the mix. That is all.

To the OP, keep in mind....red isn't exaclty a subtle color. There's only so many things you can do to deter a thief. Bottom line however, if they want it bad enough, and are brazen enough; will work a way to get it, regardless of your countermeasures.
