I had mine repaired by the place that I bought the X from. They ordered all three repair kits from BMW (around $400) and replaced everything. Its time consuming but the level of difficulty is not to high. The most important part is putting the headliner and all that shit back in without breaking the (now 10 year old) clips.

525iT, oh I'm VERY MUCH used to old plastic and how to baby the removal/install of it. I'll look into that, but it operates perfectly besides the rattle.

these are the two torx screws X5_Rob is referring to (in red circle).
I even removed them with the window NOT tilted.

Yea it all comes down to not rushing as far as i'm concerned. My Apillars weren't put back correctly and the fabric ripped

similar. BMW replaced my 850's windiw and when removing the A pillars, they broke the tabs off that snapped them to the metal frame, and then instead glued them to the roofliner. I only found this out when I had to remove them myself to do a heater core replacement and that just made me mad that they broke them and never mentioned anything to me or even offered to replace them (at $35/side). I'm very careful now about BMW plastic.

It's weird with no rattle now

Getting tape to stick to the underside of that track was tricky, I cut the one end to a point so the guide could pass over it with rolling it back. I didn't take a pic with the tape on, but can if needed. Also that glass not sounding like its going to blow apart is a plus when pushing the vent button.

DevinF. I'll try that electric tape on the guide, but it sounds more like loose glas in its housing and rattles on bumps. Now that I've got the back pannel fixed I'm gonna look at this issue now. Everything looks normal under the accordion boots though. odd.

Did you ever solve the rattle? I'm doing a full rebuild on mine and it also has the rattle currently. I have noticed that after it stops closing if I crank it shut with the allen driver it will slide the glass up further and lock it in place. I assume this is due to some broken plastic in there or something of that nature that is causing looseness. Just curious to see if you ever found the problem.

yes, this tape solved my rattle issue on the front window pane and the rear window now has the two hex screws removed (as I showed in post earlier in this thread) and now my moonroof is perfect (knock on wood)

Following, simply because in pre purchase inspection the sun roof rails in our car were starting to crack & I'm not planning on paying a dealer 4k to fix when it goes....
