I.E vacuum. I would rather you were using brake cleaner to check for vacuum leak and check each location more than once. I don't know of anything that shows all the points of possible vacuum leaks but the locations that are more often overlooked are vacuum locations on the back of the engine and injectors. Go over the areas you have already done and spray very close to all points. Idle will increase slightly for a short period of time if there is a leak. I'm hoping that is what is causing your lean condition. The better Indy shops should have equipment to apply pressure into the engine when it is not running. If there is a vacuum leak anywhere it will be visible, save lots of time searching. However you do it, eliminate either vacuum leak or low fuel pressure as the culprit by diagnostics or troubleshooting before replacing any more parts--that's what I would do even if I had no budget.

Plan for tomorrow is to purchase brake cleaner and start from there. I'm starting to worry that the vacuum leak could also be in the intake manifold, and I will have to replace the seals on it, although there didn't appear to be any oil inside (http://i.imgur.com/ePONSme.jpg or on the spark plugs http://i.imgur.com/MUAuMDA.jpg except for seize grease) My carfax had reported that two months before I purchased it, in July of 2011 the emissions didn't pass, and it passed 2 days later. Doesn't give me much info on that, only that it was within 3 days that everything was done. I'm guessing tuneup and O2 sensors was done. I purchased it with 166,000. It now has 212,000. Would the O2 sensors crap out after almost 50K miles?
I think I need to sit down and rule out everything and anything before throwing more parts at it at this point. Like I stated earlier, DISA was bad, not sure about MAF, but it is replaced as well (Always could use a spare if it wasn't), Sparkplugs needed to change. The Rubber boat looked old and ready to break, so that was changed. I cleaned the intake butterfly as well as the ICV. I don't know what else is left to replace (apart from Fuel Filter, Fuel pump or CCV). I just don't understand how one minute it was working, and now it isn't. The only thing I can remember about the previous day: 1) didn't pass smog do to EML (stored codes). Searched online and apparently I needed to complete a drive cycle without a check engine light on (only code I had was P0128, which was the thermostat which appears to be stuck open and I will be changing shortly) I drove to AM/PM and pumped gas. I proceeded to do a drive cycle exactly a week ago today around 11:00ish am. Did the 2 minutes and 15 seconds idle. 3 minutes 10 seconds of 25mph driving. Another 15 minutes of driving 50-60 mph and finally idle in gear for 5 minutes. After that was done, I drove the vehicle home, parked it and went inside. Around 4pm, I needed to run an errand, got into the vehicle, and right away noticed the idle was off. I drove it to the store (approx. 1/2 mile) and while it hesitated when accelerating, still got me up to 45mph. Left the store and I wouldn't go past 20mph. Parked it and waited until the next day. The following day I checked the oil...It was low, added approx 4 quarts and started it up. Dipstick seems to be fine with oil. Drove it down the street to cycle the oil, still having performance issues. parked it, came on here, and that is where we are now. How does something fuck up all of a sudden that quickly?

I should also note that the vehicle has now turned off and is refusing to turn on again. Last time this happened (yesterday) I removed the fuel relays, and replaced them. This did not fix it. I sprayed carb cleaner to see if it would turn on, it did. Kept turning it on (no carb cleaner) about 4 separate times and it would turn on momentarily (2 seconds) then die.
Ended up just walking inside and calling it a day.

just brainstorming here... if there is some "debris" in the fuel, is it caught in the filter and the fuel continues to flow, or the fuel filter gets clogged up and no more fuel flow? that last statement kind of shifting my concern from vacuum leak back to fuel... |

" 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful 1.0 out of 5 stars Not the FTDI cable you're looking for... Do not buy this if you expect it to work with the vast majority of software out there for BMW coding. It contains a CH340 chip instead of the far superior FTDI one everyone's software is written for. It will not be detected by most software and is an all around pain in the butt. Just say no. Published 10 months ago by jneumann "

You think it frustrating that your car don't run, it's even more frustrating helping people that don't want to follow the advice provided to them. Think I'm going to spend the day out on the Lake with the kids jet skiing or jet boating.
