IS there pictures anywhere of all the vacuums for the 2001 3.0i E53? Pictures would help alot to identify each vacuum line and see if they are leaking.

I thought you checked the boot and it was fine?

I reinstalled it today. The boot is brand new. It is fine, no cracks whatsoever.

As I said, I am not questioning whether the valve or valve seal is bad that you sent him. It could be a result of the install or who know why it could be leaking. Also, I mentioned that it could be other causes but since that area has been worked on I am suggesting before jumping to something else to be sure the valve has been thoroughly checked for a vacuum leak. IMO we have been jumping around too much and not doing enough troubleshooting pre new parts install. It appears the parts replaced were due but OP still has the original problem. OP has said he has a budget so I am trying to eliminate the less expensive possibilities, easier to get at, and more likely culprits first.

Agreed, many times in the past when I asked for input I have been told I have a bad fuel pump or need to drain the tank or injectors or coils etc. etc and I was skeptical or didn't want to spend that much to fix so I kept looking and discovered a vacuum leak that was compromising engine performance or some other simple thing that I could fix using only pocket change.

when you do that, PLEASE, make sure that the glove is not sucked inside the engine!!! that would be too epic of a failure... i think this test will show if the engine is sealed or not... sure way to rule out vacuum leak, is it not? |

I assume you mean at that particular place the glove is covering?

Should I try for the CCV replacement?

I say do a though and detailed job of being sure and if so, where you have a vacuum leak before you replace anything else. I thought you were on a budget? Perhaps my idea of a budget is different than yours. Of course, you can do whatever you think appropriate.
