I would not consider two posts concerning intermediate lever problems in cold weather a consensus or something to expect. It is something to be aware of but not cause for alarm.

So, I travelled for work and left my X at the airport. Lasted 5 days no problem... drove it home and overnight it drained the battery so much that the not even the dome light would work. WTF?? So intermittent.

I'm going to do some searching but directions would be appreciated.

Thanks, I was looking at the drawings and the do not look easy or cheap. How many hours is it stated for a bmw tech to do that work?

I also got the one liner service records and hit the main work scope with the Service guy. Seems like 2 airstruts were replaced last year and it has mention of electrical diagnostic.

According to him the installation of hard-wired battery chargers is typical... I'm baffled by the idea but apparently the alternator and battery do not have enough capacity to to keep it topped up while making short trips around town with all the electronic gadgets. Thats insane.

All the small parts and gaskets then getting it to sync together is the main trouble?

Also it was mentioned that some of the airstrut problems were apparently fixed by recoding the entire car. That sounds also rediculous. But, is there DIY interfaces that can be purchased to do that coding or is it dealer only?

Ride height can be adjusted with the following software: BMW Mini USB OBD Diagnostic Programing Cable Inpa K D Can Dis SSS GT1 Ncsexpert | eBay

Many of those on the forum have software from this vendor. Be sure that you have the required Windows based laptop operating system and HD space if you decide to purchase. I would say that using the software portion to make changes like ride height is a 6 on a scale of 1-10. There are several here that can help you.
