Isn't the ccv is just a cyclone separator? How can it freeze?

Condensation from oil that doesn't get warm enough often enough I suppose. Take care of it by going on longer drives periodically?

Congratulations and welcome!
X5 is fine in the winter with the right tires. It is also a good tow vehicle. Have a friend that was towing an M3 all over Texas every weekend. It was a supercharged 4.6. They were towing at 70mph most of the time. Not to worry about hydrolock. There is a CCV system for extreme cold. It probably already has it. The issues you listed are not difficult to correct--good luck!

sunroof cassette
just a word of advise, if you are feeling saucy don't attempt the repair of the sunroof cassette without someone around who knows whats going on, i am a bmw technician and fixing the cassette is right up there as one of the hardest repairs you can do

All the small parts and gaskets then getting it to sync together is the main trouble?
