First attempt :

Since I had the female connectors on the cables. I plugged in my home made AUX cable to the the 3 pins , pin 3,4,10 . The Left Right and Ground. Nothing.

Second attempt:

Then I rewired three 100k ohm resistor in series and put a female connector on each end and connected pins 3 with one end and pin 4 to the other end. No Aux

Maybe the female connectors are touching and I'm shorting the connection ? I'll retry with electrical tape on the connectors

Tried with electrical tape on the ends of the connectors for insulation and still nothing.

What is the connector with the white shroud for ? I can leave it completely unplugged and my sound system functions the same with our without it connected.

Aux install

I'm ready to do my Aux install this weekend, going to be tropical in CT (40F).
One question did you disconnect battery before installing? Thanks.

I didn't disconnect my battery in my several attempts to install the aux harness. I've had no issues.

Hmm I see a lot of people thinking about the ilive. Keep your receipt I went through 2 of them. The stupid power button messes up. You won't be able to turn it oFf. Not a deal breaker for some but I used to take mine when I went on travel. It will stay on for days with a full charge. I just got used to it being on then the artic cold hit this year walked out one day and it shut off but now the power button worked. Lol. I need to extend mine its hidden in side door. I need to move it to under center console like the oem pair button. pain in the neck if somebody else wants to pair to it. But it does remember like 5 or 8 phones.

i did not get to my radio to take the pics yet... hopefully, this weekend i will...

about the iLive unit... i have been using it for a few months now and {EDIT}don't{EDIT} have major issues... i do have some minor issues and those are with the fact that the unit has a battery...

i would prefer if the iLive did not have its own power source and was coming on everytime the car came on... i even disconnected the internal battery but the power switch on that unit is a momentary switch, which needs to be pressed only once to engage power - i hotwired the switch with a by-pass wire but it did not give me desired result...

so, now i am on a quest for the similar unit that either has NO battery or has a toggle or slide or otherwise fixed position power switch. if i find one, then i will leave the power switch in on position and "control" the unit by the power from the car...

first - apologies for the previous post where i missed the "DON'T" and thus misled folks into thinking that i had major issues with iLive - I do not have major issues with the iLive unit, it works fine... i just have to turn it on when i get in the car, as it turns off after sitting overnight and idling for nothing half a night on its internal battery. I would rather have it shut off with the ignition...

those two units on the Amazon look interesting, especially the second one that has that sliding switch...

I will be venturing into something like that...
