Installed Aux

Installed Aux in my 2005 E53 3.0. Used Aux cable (not for nav) from Turner Motorsport ( Pn# 82110149390, $39.95, easy instructions).
Took 45 minutes. I had to disassemble the connector on the new cable because there was already a black 12 pin connector in the lower right of the radio harness block. Disassembly was easy, unlock connector and slide out pins.
Located the receiver above the cigarette holder in the ash tray.

Thanks for the help from the Xposters!!!

Funny how I finally see this thread. I've recently thought about doing something similar by finding a bluetooth aux receiver so I can plug it into my aux input. I've been looking at eBay ones like this:

A2DP Wireless Bluetooth 3 0 Stereo Music Audio Receiver for Car Aux Home Speaker | eBay

I like the battery on it so I can run no wires at all. Just hook it up in the glove box and tuck it away.

I have the CD Business radio. No DSP, No CD Changer, No Cassette.
The connector where you insert the pins ( mine had two wires in it to start) is black in the lower right of the block

See below for connections.

I looked at your 1/28/14 post and I believe the pins are in the lower right of pic #2, pins #3 (red), #4 (blue) and #10 (brown).
My cable from Turner Motorsports actually had wires red/white, blue/white and brown/white.
Turner offers two versions, one for nav and one for non nav.

I guess that'll do for now........

What cassette radio do you have ? Did you install the Aux yourself ?

jmcgxx,

Thanks, I've already tried the pins on the right side using my homemade Aux harness. I'm going to build another and give it a shot. If not I may break down and buy the Turner Sports version.

Good luck!
I just add a bluetooth device (Amazon.com: VicTsing Bluetooth 4.0 Music Audio Receiver Adapter NFC-Enabled Hands free Car kit with APTX Technology for CD Quality Sound Home Stereo: Cell Phones & Accessories) thanks to Quicksilver.
It was plug/pair/play. For $25 it works perfect. I paired with an iPhone 5, very easy, works for music and phone seamlessly.

iLive update,

Turns out the battery in the iLive doesn't last very long so I had to resort
to using the flashlight charger plugin in the glove box to keep it going. I had
an adaptor for the flashlight plug but I had to get one of these to power
and charge the iLive. USB Car Charger | reVOLT c2 Dual USB Charger | reVOLT c2 | by Scosche

Now, with the aux plugged in, and the power being fed from the flashlight
adaptor to the scoshe usb car charger, and the scoche car charger
charging the iLive when the key is on we're good to go.
I also turn the iLive off when I'm not using it but that doesn't mean
it will keep a charge. It's just my preference to turn it off.

One other quirk. Seems like The X gets confused when it's trying to find
the iLife bluetooth and so it won't connect with the iPhone bluetooth. So
what I found is that turning off the iPhone bluetooth and then turning it
back on connects everything. Now everything is in the glovebox neatly
wrapped up and hidden from site and all I have to do play whatever.

Soon I'll take the iPad out to the X and get it connected.

Edit: Well after about a month I returned the iLive. It worked but when it was on
There was a whine I could hear that occurred when driving. When it was off it made
other strange sounds. It had to go. So no Bluetooth for now.
