I should have known better - there is an app just about for everything that one can think of... so, i found an app that gave some idea of the frequency of the whine...


as you can see, the whine is settled in the vicinity of 4-5kHz, with majority of the whine occurring at 4300 Hz +- 200 hz

Not now but sometime over this weekend i am going to do more measurements and calculate the values for the filter and try it again, just to see if it works or not...

the higher level of noise at the very bottom of the spectrum is from the engine revving...

Order them all. About $24 from BMW- we don't have the multitude of spare parts people over here that you guys have.

wow... $24 for couple pins??? highway robbery!!! how much was for the whole cable??

$6 for the connector and $5 per wire with pins attached. $114 for the aux cable.

Evidently I'm retarded. I think I should just buy the aux retro kit, plug it in and stick the bluetooth adapter into the 3.5mm Jack in the kit. Cost $A114 but easy and will just work. Heaps easier for me I think.

that's what I just did yesterday Panna...it's easier than I thought. Just plug into the connector and hit MODE till AUX appears. Now only waiting for the bluetooth receiver to arrive.
I totally forgot i have a cigarette 12v plug tucked right up passenger footwell below the glove comp. I think im just going to run usb and leave it charged/plugged to that plug. Does anyone see any downfall to this method?

also, this job (INSTALLING THE AUX COSTED ME $140 USD..) yes ONLY the AUX from BMW $35....how you may ask....so in morning, car's cold all i did was move it into driveway(3yards) turn car off, left doors all open, engine off/key out. I then go begin the process of removing the unit, I see the connector so then i plugged AUX wire in, did the routing. Then i turn car on(not engine) to hit MODE and awesome AUX appears and continue the process of finding the perfect spot for the AUX input, THEN suddenly i hear the X die/shut/dead battery sound. tried jump starting nothing worked, called AAA , they said battery was toasted. Possible drained it or something happened during the process. Im thinking HOW no wires touched, I didn't remove any fuses, and none were burnt. The last battery also purchased from AAA was i think 09/10 so 4/5 years ago.

So sorry for the long long write up, can anyone shed some info on what happened? please. If i had done something wrong, it'll help prevent same prob for the next person does this OOOOhhhh so simple install.

Can this be done on an 01 X5 w/ business CD and a changer in the truck, no NAV. I'm going to replace my deck eventually, but it's going to be a big undertaking since I plan on doing what I did before...running RCA's and power wire into the trunk to run an amp, my custom made subwoofer enclosure and an Android based double DIN deck...but in the meantime I'd still like to run Pandora until I have time to do the complete re-do.

I believe the only thing that cures alternator whine is grounding whatever device you have connected to the system. If you will notice anything that's tied into the system that is part of the audio system is grounded. Thats why you don't hear any whine normally. Bluetooth adaptors have no path to ground.

I couldn't find any grounding point in the dash so I tapped into the Business CD ground wired then run it through the relay with an override switch. The relay will kick in when my ignition key turn and while the car is running. The override switch only use when I need to turn on the table and the car is off.

Anyone in here know a place of grounding point on in the dash?

Sorry to hijack this thread.

But for a solution to Audio Streaming to the 2006 BMW X5, you can soldier in a A2DP Bluetooth 3.0 module, inside the BM53 radio module.
The radio module then powers the BT unit and audio out of the BT unit can be tapped into the Aux Input.

You then have 2 seperate BT receivers in the vehicle, the OEM one for Handsfree and the A2DP one for Music streaming.
I single phone can be paired to both units at the same time, you just uncheck "handsfree" when you pair the unit in the BM53 enclosure.

Sorry, not sure if this has been mentioned before.
I just found it to be the best and most simple solution that keeps everything OEM, no holes, no cables, just Plug and Play once you have installed the BT unit in the BM53.

Please elaborate how to do this. My X5 is a late 2000 model and from what I vaguely remember is that I need to upgrade to the an 03 or newer business CD before I even get the Aux Input option within the stereo.
