Does anyone know a good BMW mechanic in Atlanta? I just bought a 2006 BMW x5 4.4 with 149,899 miles and I want to get fluids changed. I also have a 18k/18mo extended warranty from BMW dealership.

I plan on using Amsoil Severe Gear 75w-90 for front/rear differentials. The OEM BMW fluid in the transfer case. Possibly Redline or OEM BMW in the tranny.

I have found several varieties of Redline 75/90 gear oil.
Gl4 and GL5, and a few others.

I have a 2004 X5 4.4i engine.
Which flavor of oil do I need for the differentials?
I did my transmission and transfer case ( use only BMW unicorn fluid!)
Wanting to finish up the diffs.

Amsoil lists this fluid for transfer case
https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produ...mission-fluid/

Looks like the same fluid as the transmission one. I guess in the end there isn't that much difference between transfer case and transmission fluid.

Normally I'd buy the dealer stuff, but one quart is $100 here in Canada. Not sure if it's better than Amsoil, which is a very reputable company.

Actually looks like if you don't have X drive, Dextron III (transmission fluid) is fine to use on transfer case.

Are our differentials limited slip? Don't think so but wanted to check because Redline has two 75W90 fluids, one limited slip and one not.

They're not limited slip, but you can use lube with or without the limited slip additive without issue.
