Any more theories on the shake? I'm taking it back to my original indy tomorrow to have them take a look at the calipers. If that's not it, well, I'm scared to say possibly torque converter?

Just got word from the shop, it's the transfer case.

Ugh.

I have a vibration/shudder that sounds similar to what you're experiencing. For me, it only really happens in 2nd and 3rd gear when the car is warmed up a bit. And the harder I press the gas, the more it shakes. Goes away once I'm in 4th though. One of my coworkers thought it might be the clutch plates slipping.

Did they say what about the transfer case was going bad? Or what to do to fix it?

I am planning on talking to them more this afternoon when I pick it up. We're going to drain and change the fluid tomorrow so they can examine it. They've got reports of fluid changes fixing the problem, unless there are metal shavings in there. Either way we'll know a little more about the urgency of the matter, and if changing the fluid fixes it, well that'll save me about $3750.

I'll report back.

I find it hard to believe the transfer case is the issue. The only things that wear are the plastic actuator gear (flippable) and the clutch packs if beaten to hell.

I'm not a mechanic, or an expert, which is why I'm here, and why I appreciate all your inputs. We're crossing our fingers that it's 111K of gunk that we can flush with new oil. I think he's afraid the chain could be stretched?

Like I said, I pick it up in a couple hours and will be learning more then.

Good luck hope its not what they suspect and fluid swap helps. Keep us informed.

I think this is their concern.

If not maybe I'll try the trims.
