I just read through your thread, great stuff! We got 225k+ out of our old 2009 now we are in a 2013. Do you have any write ups on deleting those tanks? I want to delete the tanks as well when I go through deleting everything later this summer.

I think I need to get back into a 35d again but I don't want to get rid of the 4.8iS

Hey, I noticed you're in NYC. I drove to Highline Motors in ballston spa (I believe) and had them do it. Cost $2000 flat including all the parts, not including swirl flap delete or blanks for that. Watching them do the DPF removal, I can't imagine having struggled to do it for hours on hours. It looked impossible, and that's watching guys who have done countless of them before on the x5's. This is coming from someone me- I change my own clutches, routinely drop the driveline including engine out of my drift car, and have touches basically every bolt that my drift car has. Watching them do it, it was clear that it would've been a whole weekend of cursing under my truck on jack stands, and it was worth every penny I spent on the drive+ labor to just have them do it!They did it in a single day for me, and the owner let me borrow his deleted X5 to meet up with some friends for lunch in nearby Schenectady. Great guy, and great shop.

I'm approaching 217k quickly, as I drove 100-150 miles most days. Why did you end up selling your 2009? What are the differences between your 2009 and 2013? Is it better optioned?

I ask, because I really do plan on seeing 3, maybe 400k on this odometer. I'm currently driving at least 30k a year, but that should cut down a bit when I get my motorcycle running and I ride that to work when the weather allows. My D seems healthy as can be, other than needed a glow plug controller(most likely.) I just need to get around to swapping it.

Technical difficulty was low, but frustration and inconvenience was high, especially on jack stands. It was about as bad as the DPF removal.

Tank removal is pretty straight forward. You will need the plastic pop rivets to put the passenger fender flare back in.

The rest is just chasing hoses and unclipping some things.

Any resistors or electrical stuff that you had to modify to make it work? Everything I have read references the need to "trick" the ECU into thinking the tanks are still there even if you have it tuned or it will throw a fault. That was more my question; I'm sure there isn't much to just pulling them out. Thank you for you responding either way.

There are two reasons why we sold it. (1) I was into replacing injectors, I had done January 2018 and then ended up having to do two more around January 2019. While the work didn't matter to me; I fabbed up a puller and purged the fuel system, etc. it was my wifes daily driver and both times when the injector/s started to fail the car died on her during rush hour coming home from work. After the second failure she didn't want to drive the car anymore and wanted something new. (2) I was just going to take it over as my DD but since it had been paid off for a couple years I was able to sell it for a decent amount of money and we paid off the last of our BS debt with that money.

After I replaced the two additional injectors it ran awesome yet again but it just made sense to sell it and use the money for other things. After that I got the itch to replace my DD F150 and started looking at SUV's since my wife new Sienna will haul just about anything. While doing so I realized I should just get another 35D because I already knew the whole thing top to bottom. So I kept a lookout for a low mileage fully optioned 2013 because its the last year of the E70 and I wanted something nice. When I found it, I jumped on it. I hope to be tackling all the delete work later this summer.

It depends on your tune. My DUDMD tune did not require anything special. Some require you remove fuses and stuff like that to disable some of the SCR stuff. However, some of those fuses are shared with other things like the CCV heater. That’s why DUDMD wrote his tune so that’s not necessary.

Nice! Right now I don't even want to think about my next car, as this one is a great dd, and it has the ability to tow my drift car too. I just recently saw a fully loaded f15 35d, that looked super nice, but I'm not as knowledgeable on the n57's known issues. a 2013 fully loaded e70 sounds like an absolute treat.

With the JR tune you remove a SCR fuse from the DDE box
