I know the amp is held in by (1) 8mm bolt and (3) electrical harness. Two harness as easy to get off the big one is some sort of slide to unluck, still haven't figured out how to get it out.

Satellite radio is the other rectangluar silver box mounted to the side of the vehicle held on by 2-3 plastic nuts right? I know there is a fiber optic harness (green/black wire), and another harness. Both are easy to take off.

So put the look in the green/black fiber optic harness? There are NO loose cables in the left compartment I've checked twice now. Everything is hooked up to something

Picture would be very helpful

Yes it's the green and black harness. Unplug it from Sirius and plug that loop in and if it's the Sirius all your bells will come back. Then if it's not that move to the next component in the most loop and plug the loop into that connector. I got lucky and thought it was the amp. And tried the Sirius and b everything worked.

I'll test it after work today and see if it works

I don't have Sirius Radio, so unless I try to loop the amp to see if the other components will work?

This loop may have been left by the technician when troubleshooting the amp. When the MOST communication is disrupted there will be no audio, warning chimes ect. You use the optical loop to eliminate one component at a time.

UPDATE: So the vehicle was at the dealership for about 2 weeks. It winds up being two faulty comfort access door handles...That's it...two electric door handles throws off the entire system. This is why I like to buy BMWs pre 2007

Lightbulb Just a loose connection

Hopefully may help someone.

Had a similar issue: no audio, no tones, no USB. Checked all of the fuses - all were good. Then, as I was about to about to close the fuse panel under the glovebox, I noticed a cable that looked like it had become unplugged. As it turned out, it was an optical audio cable and actually, there were two plugs, which looked like they had been mated together but held together with a single loop of vinyl electrical tape. It looked like a hack job but it had to have been factory installed. I bought my 2012 X-5 in 2014 with less than 24K miles. No one has touched it since. Of course, after 8 plus years, the tape failed. Still, seems very uncharacteristic for an automobile in which every connector is designed to withstand a sabot round.

I held the connectors together, prayed, and turned on the radio. Lo and behold, there was music in my ears! I wrapped it with a whole lot of electrical tape and closed it back up. Tones are working, too. Forgot to check the USB but I will follow up, if needed.

Take the tape off, use a piece of shrink tubing and it should last as long as the vehicle. Harbor Freight sell a kit of assorted sizes and colors of shrink tubing for a few dollars.

Actually, I wasn’t sure if it was vinyl tape. I think it was shrink tubing that came undone. It left an oily residue. I’ll use it next time.

Funny that I’m searching on a related issue and my own comment is first reply on this post.

After being parked all weekend my 09 has no audio, no warning tones. No warnings on dash (for that anyway, I have SRS and TPS lights).

Comfort access still works at all 4 doors, I’ve had some issues for years now with no comfort access at the rear hatch. But that may or may not be related.

Checked all of the fuses listed for the radio at the rear fuse panel and all pass a visual inspection.

I guess I’ll pick up a MOST loop and start down that rabbit hole.
