I can't wait till I'm officially moved out - no diesel emissions inspection in NC for passenger cars

Just remember about resale boys. Unless you plan to keep it for a while you'd definitely making it less marketable without emissions equipment.

Keep in mind that the hit in resale won't compare to the money spent to KEEP the emissions working.

Besides. If I can keep this thing for the next 5 years, it will have about 200k on it by them and will be worth the same $3500 regardless of emissions delete.

In my redneck county it's probably worth more with the delete.

Lol. Yeah if you plan to keep for 5+ years it makes sense. I've considered it but I'm on the fence. Love my 35d but have been considering a wild idea to buy an H1. If I decide to keep, it's got to be for the long term but I've gotten a taste for functionality this being my first SUV. Now I'm thinking of building an ultimate vehicle for our hiking/camping adventures.

^^This - out of warranty the approx. $3k investment will be well spent if you are keeping the long haul - considering I've already seen both urea tanks take a dump, as well as the SCR catalyst and both NOX sensors before 48k miles, I don't want to be paying for that crap out of warranty

I first experience with emissions was when my passive tank went out and I was quoted $1200 for replacement. After then I simply didn't want to take chances with rest of the crap which was just a matter of time.

lmao

I just got the x5 3 months ago and just looking over the previous owners service history, I couldn't afford just one of these things going wrong. so there is a price to pay upfront removing the components or just wait for an unfortunate time so the car starts kicking you in the balls.

So the total investment for me is $804 bucks for the Buzzken kit and $600 for the TRF tune since they have that deal going and you also have pay 25 bucks to send the ecu in. so if you do the work yourself you are spending $1,425 bucks

but the parts you sell should be worth more than that, just the 2 NOX sensors are worth 250 each easily.

Previous owner was quoted that much for the tank all tho somehow it was still covered by bmw.

So I just found this EGR delete kit that fits the x5d

it's not as fancy as the AARodriguez "race pipe" but for $23.88 who can argue against it? link

I guess it does not come with the hardware to bypass the coolant lines but that can probably be done with some hoses from home depot.

not that it bothers me the way it is now but it would clean up the engine bay a bit.

btw does anyone know how to drain the urea thank? I tried poking the hose that connects to the metering valve but nothing comes out of it. Im assuming if you drain the active tank the passive tank should drain too.
