I'd do a cooler.
The heat exchanger is a decent way to get the trans UP to temp as well. By tying the temp to the engine/oil system, it is easier to manage- engineering wise Id also monitor your trans temps and EGT. 100% agree that temps kill trans. DOesnt take much to overheat, damage seals...then death begins. Not sure about that chart tho...
