I guess I'll have to. But I like everything working. There's no reason why this shouldn't work other than a bug in their programming. Or it's by design. Who knows. It's annoying.

I wouldnt blame them too much.... BMW engineers determined that "any vehicle that is maintained tot he crap oil change intervals we have specified in CBS system will never make it past 300K kms".

So there was no need for a CBS past that point!

Very true, but I love this car. And with normal maintenance that N52 is a dream. This thing is smooth as silk and always ready to gooooo! Power on demand even at 230k.

They deserve to be pampered because they're always there for you.

Ultimate driving machine.

indeed! How many miles on it? BMW recommends changing the oil every 16000 miles but there's no way you should do that. Every 5k at most. And don't use high mileage castrol. Only regular. I still use 5x30 full synthetic. The high mileage stuff I've heard can cause the seals to fail over time.

Yeah. So there's that little tidbit lol

What are you guys talking about? I'm about to roll over 240k miles and my CBS still works. I change it before it thinks I need to, between 5 and 8k most times.... but the CBS definitely works. Currently sitting at 239750 and I changed my oil right at 239k.

How do you know it definitely works (for Oil change intervals) if you always change it before it tells you??

It's my wife's DD, a 2008 with about 60k on it - a whopping 7-12 miles per day. So that's what, under 6k miles per year.
I change the oil myself, annually, as she never hits the mileage. I stick to Castrol or Mobil full synth of the correct specified weight, not too fussy, and never worry about it.

BTW - in an interview with the guy who OWNS Blackstone Labs, he stated that he buys WHATEVER Oil is ON SALE, and just changes it as per the recommended interval. FWIW!
