All that said we are talking about 3% difference. Also consider geography and location in the world.

There are people do have put 30" tires with good results. As long as you are ok with some trade off the options are there I have no problem bumping up the diameter 3%

I didn't intend to imply the 3% would be a problem. I only wanted to make sure OP was aware of the tradeoffs and that I don't think it is necessary to change size tires to get where he wants to go.

I recall some of threads over the years I have been a member. I don't recall any consistency of opinion on what is the best solution or any followup on the results. In addition, different years, engines, tires, milage, rims and suspension have been compared as if the same results will be the case regardless of what X5 you have. That's the primary reason for my opinion to stay with stock size tires. I am quite sure there is a factory size tire that will be a fix. I would let the tire shop know what I am after and get their recommendation. And ask if I can exchange them if I am not happy with the results.

I should also mention using the spare tire can be a problem if not matched close enough to tire height of the other tires.

That's a solid point about the spare also didn't mean to imply wasn't also a solid point to stick to factory tire circumference. I'm just saying if for example you drive a lot on unimproved roads you may desire to maximize your tire size/sidewall as has been done by xo members to great satisfaction. It does change the flavor of the car for sure in a few ways but make the car what you need is my feeling.

Regarding the spare, my E70 has none, nor a provision for it. It's the 7-seater.

Generally, I tend to seek simpler but lasting solutions and the easiest one that came to me was to replace my aged tyres with beefy ones having a taller profile, because added rubber translates to added comfort at least in basic theory.

I tend to drive it occasionally on not so smooth roads and the sports suspension plus tiny sidewall makes for a harsh ride. When I reduce the pressure, it's always much better, but then not a wise idea on those thin tyres. Hence, the need to increased sidewall, where I can then safely play with a bit of slightly reduced pressure for more comfort.

It seems the setup of: Front - 255/60R19 and Rear - 275/55R19 offers identical sidewall and rolling circumference for both F/R, but of course am a bit worried about rubbing, but will give it a shot.
