Parts delay for E70
I'm wondering if anyone has experience a parts delay for E70s. My 4.8i has been in the shop for 3 weeks now as the parts are the steering column and rear camera replacement are back ordered. My steering column area rattles around bumps, so they are replacing some of the surrounding trim and the rear camera malfunctions with an error message. While I've been waiting very patiently as I really do love this car, I've never had to wait this long for any BMW part to come in, including a whole new engine when my M3 valves failed. Has anyone else with an E70 experienced parts backorder and has it been this long? To top it off, when they were attempting to program the rear camera, the idrive crashed and now they are awaiting new software from the factory. ![]() Being that its a lease, I just don't like the idea of paying $900 a month for a car that I can't drive. And now, the X3 loaner I got is starting to crap out. The ABS or DSC comes on around corner, braking the front-right wheel and the 4x4 light goes off and the Passenger Air Bag is always off, even when a passenger is in the seat. But I haven't complained since the dealer takes the approach that I'm lucky enough to get a loaner car. Should I call BMW Customer Service for assistance, or is time waiting period normal for a relatively new model car? |

I would, 3 weeks without your car should at least entitle you to a credit for one lease payment. Don't take no for an answer, customer service can get this done for you. Good luck

Parts Delays
I experienced the delays and received a payment from BMW NA. My car was in the shop for most of six of it's first eight weeks. My service director said the most common reimbursement was payments while the car was in the shop.

Just got word that I need a new wire harness and computer that are both backordered. They tell me that the wait will be 7-10 days from Germany. I will be with out a car for nearly three weeks. I am purchasing my car not leaseing. Do you think BMW financial services will accept my theory that I am waiting on test and my payment will be on back order.

I just want to update you all...I spoke to a kind BMW Customer Care rep named Dan who forwarded my request for a month's lease payment to my Service Manager for approval. Hopefully, it will come through and they will credit me for this month's lease payment.

My problems continue.
![]() I spoke to my service manager today and he informs me that the CCC Control unit that connects the rear camera to the iDrive has failed when attempting to replace the rear camera. To give you some background, when engaging reverse and the rear camera, the car would give me a "Rear Camera Malfunction". They proceeded to replace the rear camera, but after replacing it, the CCC module failed, causing the whole iDrive to go down. So basically, its a working car without iDrive, and everything that goes with it: Audio system, bluetooth, climate settings, etc. Currently, the module is backordered and won't arrive till August 1st. Almost a month... ![]() I asked what my options are, and basically the answer was: 1) file a lemon law claim or 2) they'll continue to make my payments and continue to drive the X3 loaner (which by the way is crapping out...the ABS or DSC comes on from time to time in a corner, and the passenger airbag doesn't work - off light is on all the time). While I'm very happy and thankful they are helping me with the payments, at the end, I really want a new car. That BMW is NOT authorizing and is asking that I give them a chance to fix the car. I personally feel like I've given them quite a chance, as the car has been there for over 3 weeks, and will be there another 3 weeks (at least). Has anyone been in this situation and what was your outcome? Do you think I should continue to push for a new car, or just wait and give them a chance to fix it? Chris BTW, the X only has 300 miles on it, so they could easily take this car back and sell it with very low miles. |

If I were you I would throw the keys right back at them and demand a new car. This is not right!

Thanks canamx5... That's exactly what I was thinking...
![]() After hanging up with the service manager, I told myself I would give it some thought and think about it over 4th of July. Right now, I'm thinking of going there Thursday and demanding the new car. I would give them that chance if it could be attempted in a week. But to wait 3 weeks, seems really long. I really have a hard time understanding how BMW could have this part backordered, or why they can't make one in less time. I've never had a car take this long in service. |

I would push for a new car as well, or at the very least make them loan you an x5 that is the same spec as the one in service.
I told my SA I would drive the X3 loaner for two weeks max then I expect an e70 X5. They have one more week before the X5, it will be very intresting to see what they do if my car is not ready.
