Battery drain / low battery error on I-Drive

My wife received an error this morning on her i-drive stating something along the lines of battery drain / low battery. The car ran fine. She started it up again this afternoon and got the same error. Took it to the local dealer who had a quick look and didn't seem to have any ideas. Their service department is "fully booked" (not a good sign?) Thursday and Friday and they are closed at weekends, so they will not look at it until Monday! They wouldn't entertain a request for a courtesy car until the error was cleared - they expect my wife to drive round with this error taking three children to and from school. If it breaks down they said "just call BMW assist" !

For a £54,000 car, that's pretty rubbish service. When I had my £32,000 Volvo XC90, they would _always_ fit you in, even if it meant calling in an engineer from another dealership or staying late. They would also always offer a courtesy car, or to chauffer you around and drop you off / pick you up if you had any appointments during the time your car was being repaired.

Unfortunately I wasn't at the garage, if I had been, I wouldn't have been so polite. FIVE days before they could fit in a £54k for what could potentially be a pretty major fault on a 6 week old car. Halliwell Jones of Warrington - shame on you.

Had the same error. Cleared itself with no ill effects. There's some posts here describing similar problems that may just be computer glitches that cure themselves.

Scumbag dealers exist everywhere and with all car brands I guess. I usually get worse service for my XC90 at my Volvo dealer than with the BMW dealer here in the US.. but then it's just a luck of the draw.

Go to the dealer principal or service manager - I did and got my car in the very next day.

I had a bettery warning the first night, but then again I was playing around with the i-drive for 2 hours. Have not had a warning since.

I also had this message one morning and then never again. I figure I left the back hatch loose or just a freak message. If you still have it I would follow up but it may well have cleared iteself as many have.

Indeed, hasn't appeared today at all. Makes you wonder if their service department was really full, or they were just hoping that if they put us off for 5 days it would clear by itself...
