Well, it was not significantly better than V1 in that test by Radar Roy. I have some skepticism about his tests though -- the way that he pushes the Veil products is just ridiculous.

But I agree, if you got the money, the 9500ci is probably the way to go. But the "god of all detectors"???

Interesting that the 9500ci does not sound any better than 9500i (someone had claimed it would be) and the 9500ci seems to have the same inners as the Bel STI.

I take any review on a site that is also selling products with a huge grain of salt. Radar Roy is in the business to make money, which means talking up products that he sells.

I'm waiting for a third party (GOL) to conduct un-biased tests. Then we can see how it performs.

Although Radar Roy does sell Escort products, he is considered one of the most trusted thrid party radar detector testers out there. He sells almost all legitimate brands of radar detectors. I guarantee follow up tests will support his results.

In addition, Roy consistently posts test videos and gives lengthy test explanations, which is more than can be said for most other testers.

To compare the 9500ci to the Sti or the 9500i is to ignore its combination of features. The 9500i does not even compare to the 9500ci because it is dash mount, it is Spectre Detectable, and it has not laser protection. These two detectors are on a whole different level. The benefit of the remote mount not only adds to detector performance, but combined with undetectability, it will save you tickets from POP radar, which is geared specifically at radar detector users. Just the other day I came over a hill in my wife's car, which has a Bel rx65, and a cop POPed me before I could even discern his car model. He had a Spectree Detector Detector and he knew exactly when I would come over that hill. Fortunately I was not speeding because someone the other way flashed his brights at me!

This situation would not occur with the help of eiether Bel STi or 9500ci. I don't think it is far off to say this radar detector will take years to beat. The comination of performance, false alert elimination, Traffic Camera Detector, Undetectability, and laser jamming is absolutely unmatchable by any other comination. Even if you combine the Shifter ZR4 with the 9500i, you comprimise invisibility and some performance as well.

There is no better option.

xwith5,

You appear to be quite knowledgeable (and pretty focused on this X5 forum) on radar detectors and laser jammers. Are you in that business?

It does look like it tested well. I would like to see a few more test though, before I am completely sold on going away from either a V1/Passport + stand alone jammer type set up.

Most if not all Laser Jammers will have a kill switch. LI. Propark and the new Cheetah P.A.S.S. which is based on the Propark. LI has a new USA Rep who is cleaning up the shady CS and is doing a fine job. No mater which Jammer you go with placement and alignment is the key. Even the "best" Jammer will get punch throughs if the heads are not installed properly. LI makes the "slim" heads which makes it real attractive for stealthy installs and placement between the kidneys since it can be installed vertically.

Why would you want to power down is a state where they are legal? Well for one you don't want to piss off a LEO and have him pull you over just to hassle you. No need to attract unwanted attention, and secondly you want to slow down so the LEO can get a reading at legal speed then there is no need for them to stop you.

Just for your information the Marksman LTI 20/20 Laser will give a Code E07 in the display and an audible tone when it senses a jammer/shifter. It will also give the speed reading and distance. Anyone that believes the laser shifter makes you invisible is buying into the hype. Most jammers send out a signal when it is hit by laser and rsets itself. It does not need to be manually shut down. The laser calculates speed and distance in 1/3 of a second.

I hear you, but once again if it is in a legal state I am not going to worry about powering it down and worry more about just slowing down. Trust me, if the LEO can't get a reading because of a jammer, then notices your car nose diving from hitting the brakes and then all of a sudden gets a reading when you have slowed down he will pull you over anyway. I say let it ride and just slow down. I have nothing to hide anyway, so if they pull me over it is no big deal. Whatever BS ticket I get from that is much better than a 15+ MPH over the limit ticket.

You are totally misinformed. Trust me I use a police laser on a daily basis. The police laser picks up the signal of the jammer/shifter. I agree with you about slowing down but you are kidding yourself if you think you are invisible. I hope you also realize you can be convicted of speeding by the cops visual estimate.
