The conspiracy theorist in me says that the BMW design folks send these guys out in preproduction models with the intention of getting photographed, and then troll the forums for unbiased feedback on proposed styling cues. I say this because I hope they do something about the fog light placement! Not that I can't live with it, but I would rather just not have fog lights than have those cutouts in the middle of an otherwise smooth shape.

you can't have it all where would you put it? Literally haha id rather have a slim strip of small leds ala merc/audi even tho its a little me too. I feel it wouldn't disrupt the styling the way the singular ones do. If your listening bmw designers give me new interior/exterior color selections and I may just ignore the fogs!

I like the back look (well as long as it is painted), and the front in general is good, but those fog lights are just horrid.

have fog lights ever helped anyone? I've had an SUV since 1995 with 4 fogs and it has never actually come in handy. The ones where you put up on roll bars - the ones you see on trucks - those actually help... not these.

Fog lights are so you can be seen, not so you can see. In that context I find them invaluable. One of my biggest bugbears is people who do not use them in fog, or use them when there is no fog! The value of front fogs is significantly less than rears admittedly.

Nope. Once we see a car on the road in camo, the styling concept was probably finished a long time prior, and the word 'concept' in German is completely different than in English. It means written in stone, finished.

I thought they were going to stretch it a bit, and put the bulge back in the side.

You can use them that way but they are not the intended use...

Daniel Stern Lighting Consultancy and Supply

In essence they're so you can see the "edge of the roads" etc. in dense fog that hovers inches above the ground but I've been in those situations and they are of little help on vs. off. If it has to be in such a poor position, it may as well have been left off... passenger vehicles are slightly lower to the ground but still are susceptible to the same visibility and they go sans fogs plenty.
