Ask for it to be replaced. It is an expensive ride which you try and take care of the best you can. You don't wanna deal with any half ass repair job.

It hurts, but there is a bright side.... those 'stone chips' will all go away.

I am sorry to hear that. Shame on them for telling you that the car was out in the front hoping that you would not notice the damage. That's even worse than damaging the car IMO . The mechanic should have reported and even if he has not, the SA is responsible to verify for any damage before returning the car to the client. You must go to the stealer's GM and report what they did.

From the pics you posted, the entire front bumper needs to be replaced. However, let them do the repair and if it is not acceptable to you, you can always demand them to replace the bumper. That is my 0.02.

Hassel in Freeport, they were rated top 30 dealers in the country this year too. Go figure. It seems you can't trust ANYBODY to take care of your car. At the road-force shop they marred my rims a little bit too.

I moved the appt up to next week... I can't stand it being like this any longer than it has to be. If I get them to replace, do they have to order the part or should they have something like this available already?

They won't have the part in stock if they have to replace the bumper cover. Sorry to hear about your car. I had the Lexus dealer put a big door ding on one of my cars when I had them install some wheels and tires. My car was brand new. They had the dent Wizard fix the ding. Another time, I had a new Corvette and the mechanic sat in my passenger seat with a screw driver sticking out of his back pocket and put a large gouge in my seat. Both times, they never said a word about what they did. That really sucks. I took my X5 to the dealer for a door rattle and they took my car over several speed bumps and knocked it out of alignment. That was at Plaza Motors in St. Louis. I don't trust them with my car after that stunt. I will take it to my local dealer for service from now on.

Good luck with the repair. I wouldn't let them fix the bumper cover. I would demand a new one...

Craig

That totally sucks. I would have thought that a BMW dealership would take better care of the cars under their care but I guess not. Same thing happened when I owned a Ford. The mechanic at the dealership backed my car into a wall (totally destroyed the back bumper, misaligned the back doors and messed up the trunk). Then I found out from the body shop that they just wanted to bondo or just paint over the damage! I guess the name doesn't really matter. I would definitely DEMAND them replace instead of repair and try to find out which body shop they use. Now I'm going to go over my X with a magnifying glass before service and after service.

Anything less than a brand new bumper replacement would be unacceptable IMO.

Look at it this way - having them replace the part will go alot further when and if you have the sell the car down the road. When some sees paint work, they're going to suspect the worse - even though you have pics. Hence, you'll have a better story with dealer invoicing showing dealer damaged vehicle - new part replaced -keep that as evidence for the if/when selling time.

nynd, that is the right answer. A paint line or color fade in one area will most def raise red flags at sale time, especially if you trade it to a dealer.
