I wonder what happens in the Winter if you don't drive it for a while. From what I've read, one of the urea tanks is electrically heated, to stop it from freezing. So If I park it at the airport for a couple of weeks when it's 0 F or below, do I return to a drained battery and/or busted urera tank? Or is it insulated enough that it doesn't take much power to keep it from freezing?

How does this compare to the 4.8 when you are going 80 mph and need to quickly hit 100 mph?

The 35d is slower than the 4.8 at those high speeds. Something you can feel.

But off the line and at lower speeds, the 35d feels like the 4.8 (if not smoother).

I'm assuming the $1800 tax credit only applies for purchase and not for a lease?

I have the Evolve remap which takes the 35d to 345bhp/730Nm torque. I would now assume it will be as quick or quicker than the 48i

Overtaking on the motorway in 6th gear is fantastic!!

Has anyone actualy with sd or with 35d (us version) with ECU mod raced any 4.8i ??? I am very curious to see the result... I have the ECU mod from Hartge 335HP and I have the feeling that I am faster than any 4.8i although i cannot proove it.... because I never raced one.... yet
A guy I know has a 4.8 and doesnt want to race me but when ever i am inside his car and he speeds it feels slower... the only things is far better is the V8 sound....

Please tell me what the Evolve remap is! Does the BMW dealership do this (I hope) and does it void the warranty?

Many thanks,

Holy F*CK! I got the X5 35d tonight as a loaner. I wanted to try it out, see what the torque was like, and the wifey might consider an X as well. All I can say is wow. The power curve is great and if anything needed to be adjusted was the delay in power till 1500 rpms and the sound resonating at a stand sill. But after that, I do not need my 4.8i anymore.
