Diesel Fill Up Tips or Tricks?

Diesel does foam up also. Go to a station that sells a lot of diesel fuel. You want fresh fuel. Like the others said, you can wear an exam glove, or keep a pair of jersey gloves in zip lock bag. I don't get much fuel on my hands when I fill up. It's not an issue for me...

Real men in my neck of the woods just wipe their hands through their hair ... cleans your hands and keeps your hair in place. The girls just love the smell...

Seriously though, find a local fuel outlet with clean pumps (and complain to those with dirty pumps) but for insurance when you're out of your area I find those cheap cotton gardening gloves (they about a $1 a pair here) very handy. At that price you can throw them away if they get dirty.

I can only imagine my malignant scowl I'd force upon the guy who wore a glove when pumping gas only a month ago... Now its me Break all the mirrors...

I have easy access to disposable plastic gloves where I work but it seems so weak. Almost as bad as that poster who complained about getting dirt on the back of his suitpants from the overhang of the sidesteps... Oh that was me too, the shame...

Definitely the worst part of diesel ownership but after many years of BMW (and other) diesels I'd never go back to petrol power.

I bought a cheap set of leather gloves at Ace Hardware...I keep them in a zip lock bag in the space at the right rear of the cargo area. I also keep several paper towels, that I use of the handle of the pump. Keeping the gloves in the zip lock will keep are residual fuel smell out of the vehicle.

If this proves problematic, I'll get one of those plastic containers (like baby wipes) that are full of disposable nitrile gloves.......they'll pop out of the container easily, and can be quickly disposed of...........

This might apply more when I drove an F350 vs someone driving a BMW though. The stuff does suck when I gets all over your hands, and it's even worse when it gets on the bottom of your shoes, since it's definately been spilled all over the ground also. I hope most BMW diesel owners use those rubberized floor mats, or walk carefully around the diesel pumps.
