We'll get into the "Engine Malfunction" light popping on for a few minutes then going away on while still driving. Due for first service, so we'll see what codes await if dealer feels like sharing. Maybe the latest discussion on code readers will drive me out to get one to see fore myself before dealer gets ahold of her.

Great information on the site, been extremely useful and hope I can offer some useful posts as well.

The funny thing is, they never gave me a service ticket for this part. I never received a survey either...

FWIW The Tischer BMW getBMWparts.com site says it is a pricey (MSRP of almost $600) "Sensor for NOX" (as in Nitrous Oxide, I believe).

I know the the OBD-II codes can, and do, typically identify misfires by cylinder, but it will not identify the cause, such as an injector. Believe it or not, it does this by sensing the position of the crankshaft when there is a small change in the speed of the crankshaft, and relating that repetitive "blip" to particular cylinders.

My loaner was a Mercury that looked like a cop car LOL!
They were out of BMW loaners and gave me a rental car. I didn't want to wait 4 days for a BMW loaner.

Well we have another issue. SA said the "diesel fuel additive level sensor" that is in the actual additive tank needs to be replaced. Neither BMWNA nor BMW Germany have the part, so they will need to "make one." This part might take a couple of weeks, he says. This part won't affect performance, as it's just a sensor. Sigh.

They should be replacing the injectors today.

HUH? Are you sure your SA didn't say 'diesel exhaust fluid additive level sensor"? IOW a sensor in one of the two exhaust fluid (AKA Urea) tanks.

I'm guessing that's exactly what it is. When I left the car yesterday, I told him that my wife saw an error when she was driving that said the exhaust fluid needed to be refilled within 9xx miles. But the error never happened again, so they are replacing the sensor. I'll find out more when I pick up the car tonight (if it's done - I haven't had an update yet today). All of our communication since I left the car has been through email.

I had the dealer fax over my service ticket.

Part # 13-62-7-812-741 Temperature Sensor

That's the part that took 3 months.

You may want to check out this thread on BimmerFest. The OP says he has had multiple Check Engine Light issues. The dealer replaced...

For those interested the keys parts in this list are shown in this RealOEM diagram. They are the 'active SCR container' for the exhaust fluid (AKA the active Urea or AdBlue reservoir) and the 'filler tube with filler opening'. These are pricey parts (all up, approx. $2000 retail) and MAY contain a "sensor" but they are NOT in and of themselves specifically a "sensor".
