Need advice, may change order

My wife has a X5 35d on order. Her options include the following:

Heated front seats
iPod and USB adapter
Premium Package
Technology Package
Trailer hitch

She now is considering adding the comfort seats and rear climate package and wanted some feedback on the options. We live near Dallas Texas. She hauls two dogs in the back seat. She was concerned that the standard windows had no tinting and if she had the windows tinted that it would not hold up with the dogs saliva. So she will probably add the rear climate package but was wondering if the window shades rattle. The rear climate package would also help to keep the grocery's cool if she puts them on the floor.

She was also wondering if the extra $1300 for the comfort seats are worth it.

Thanks for the feedback

I opted for them when I had the vehicle and would say yes, go for it. The slight window tint in a nice feature and becuase its in between the glass layers, more durable than aftermarket. As well, shades do not rattle (if you open the window you need to put them down).

Comfort seats - yes!

Comfort seats? YES.

The rear climate is nice..the shades don't rattle, and the occupants like the control. I suppose it depends on how smart her dogs are.....

Do your homework on the hitch... if the dealer is screwing you on the price, you can always do it later. After all, the dealer will do it after the car arrives as an 'aftermarket, dealer installed option'...

Comfort Seats are awesome!!! Get them! I added them on after I ordered mine and they are the best option that I added. I actually added the active ventilated seats since my wife liked the massage thing that the seats do but the comfort seats by themselves are the best!

I also have the rear climate package but have only had the car for a few weeks so I cant comment on the durability or the dog saliva issues that you are asking about.

Comfort seats for sure. I would also add comfort access. I have the rear climate as well. Heated seats are a must for resale in a cold climate...

IMHO BOTH options are must haves

The 'comfort' seats are not as good as they were on the E53 models. But they are much better than the standard seats. For us, the ability to adjust the shape of the seat back is worth the price of admission.

The rear climate package is a little pricey but worth it here in Texas for the factory tint and rear window shades, which are much better than the ones on the E53. The separate rear controls are very handy for groceries, pets and maybe even human guests

As you will have determined from the above posts, there are two groups of BMW owners. Those who have comfort seats, and will never go back, and those who haven't tried them yet. Add another vote for comfort seats here.

No opinion on the rear climate, but if you have most of the other options, why not?

I'd say rear climate package isn't worth it if no humans are expected to ride in the back. Mostly because the factory tint is very light, you almost think they forgot to put it when you first see it.

I agree with Price. I did get the rear climate pkg. on my diesel, but the tint was lighter than I expected. I put after-market tint on my 535 and liked it a lot. I also got the multi-contour seats. They were a must-have.

I bought off the lot and "took the deal" the 35d had everything I wanted... except for the comfort seats. I have no regrets and love the vehicle, but as mentioned by JCL above, I previously owned a 530i with comfort seats and to this day dearly miss them. You can get by with standard seats, but if you have the choice, I'd recommend spending the extra money and get the comfort seats.
