35d Oil Leak and recall

I will follow up however. Since it is mentioned here, it doesn't make sense oil would come from the air side. No chance that the hose does double duty and transports oil in a segment in the hose to the other turbo? (probably a stupid question, but there are no stupid questions, right?)

But why not just post the part number they say they replaced???? Or look it up yourself on realoem.com

My concern always is having accurate records so you know what was really done- and not just hoping BMW will be able to figure it out in the future...

Just FYI, that link is one page out of thousands on that site. Indeed, there are probably 12 pages of parts that are associated with the turbos, air intakes, intercoolers and oiling. At the root page of realoem there is a 'search by part number' so you can find it that way...

Part number on invoice does not match anything on the website. The invoice does mention on the same service item for the oil leak a "SIB 17 02 09, Defect Code 11 65 19 14 00"" which I assume means a service information bulletin with some info as to the cause and repair recommendation for the oil leak.

Tell them you want to know what was done and the part number replaced, period. They want you confused, their goal in not to be clear nor to fully explain what was done.


They make stuff up all the time, so I would most definitely not assume anything represents "some information as to the cause and repair recommendation"... It seems like the numbers after the defect code might be a partial part number for an air hose oring. (ie 11-65-xxx-xxx_..and defect codes were 4 digit alphanumerric codes last time I saw them.

Day after SA says BMWNA wants them to take turbo apart (don't know which one) and try to find source or cause of leak. I would rather they replace the whole unit and not try to use my unit as a training exercise to fix a leak. Parts probably in Germany.

Keep you posted. In the shop for three days. Maybe they'll keep it for 30 days and I can get a new one. Have a 10 328 coupe, SB with red interior, navi and M sport pkg for loaner. Sure is fun to drive.

any update on this? My 35d is in for same issue...
