No, what he is saying is that you need to have the USB port in your car for you to get the playlists on screen. If you only have an aux-input, then you will only get sound.

I understand "playlists on screen" issue, but when I connect iPod with the cable I've attached in my previous post, no sound no anything. Is it a cable or maybe blown fuse?

You have to select external devices on the iDrive, its like the 3rd or 4th option down, then aux or bluetooth audi

same for blue tooth audio...took me a couple minutes to figure it out
