2011 X5 35d price suggestion in Seattle Area

Did anyone recently buy X5 35d in Seattle area and can share their experience? The best price I could get so far is $1700 over invoice before eco credit, probably a couple hundreds less at best by negociating further, it's still way more than the price paid posted here. And one dealer is even only willing to sell 35d at MSRP.

The $3500 eco credit is expiring on 28th Feb, does anyone know it's going to be renewed or just gone?

What's the price in CA, is it feasible to order in CA and shipping to WA if the price difference is huge?

Thanks in advance

You can simply fly down and drive it back in one day. Or sightsee and spend the night halfway.

Sales tax wise CA is 7.5-8%, and WA is 6.8% so you will lose the difference.

At 1700 it probably isn’t worth the hassle.

Really the ‘market’ is between 500 and 2500 at this point, all depending on timing, peoples’ efforts, luck, etc.

You could probably make a ‘final play’ of “I’ve got a deal out of state for 1000. If you can do it for 1500, or throw in $500 worth of accessories, I’d just do it with you, since you will get the service” If he says OK, do it.

Thanks for your advice.

The car sale tax in Seattle is unfortunately high over 9%, I need to pay additaional tax on top of CA tax to match local tax if buying car there. The tax shouldn't be problem.

The air ticket is about $150 from Seattle to SFO. Driving back X5 from CA sounds great idea. I can schedule vacation time and drive this brand new car.

Whether it's worth or not, it all depends on the price premium difference between CA and WA.

I was offered to trade my 2009 x5d in for a 2011 at the end of last year for supposedly a "great deal". It was a joke. I won't name dealers but lets just say it was 'very local'. There a bunch of sharks. Not only did they seriously low-ball me on the trade in, but the price of the new car was only a bit less than MSRP. I hope you get a good deal.

Well, I probably knew which dealer you are talking about.

BMW may build the finest cars, but the experience to deal with their dealer is among the worst

There are three dealers around Seattle area and all of them push me feel doing me a favor by offering a quote. They all claimed sth like "X5 diesel is so hot, you should pay MSRP on it and still wait 2+ months to get it"

Did you finally get new one last year when there was $2500 holiday cash?

Make an xls and write down all the numbers and calculate properly. This is what I did. see attachment.

My experience was really bad. some dealers did not even respond to email/phone inquiries. some salesreps mentioned we only sell it as MSRP and we don't even give 100 dollar off.

I listened to what other members said - When you go in to buy a car, you should look like you want to buy it today. Tell them your offer and tell them that you have your checkbook in hand rightnow.

I paid $3000 over invoice on my 08 4.8i in December 2007 after talking to all three Seattle area dealers. I had read about people paying $1000 over invoice at the time but not in the Seattle area. $1700 seems like a relative deal.

No, and in a way I had the last laugh because my 2009 is great and I'm not in any hurry to change it. I told the dealer to #####. Sure the 2011 has new bumpers but the x5 diesel really remained unchanged. No 8sp ... No active cruise, no 40d ... Etc ... So the reason to change wasnt compelling enough.

You might be better to go out of the area. I will do that next time when it is time to change.
