Performance Center Delivery denied me
Thank you for inquiring about the performance center delivery. due to high demand for PCD and your production progress on your new car, we are unavailable to offer your date. Instead you can come Saturday may 25 and do the delivery then" At first I was like "well that sucks. Its a holiday weekend i already have plans for so then I guess I can't go'. Then it occurred to me that I am about to spend north of $60k to buy a car from BMW and the least they can do is find a way to accomodate better than what they responded with. I thought I gave PLENTY OF NOTICE (5 weeks) to do delivery and they refuse to do my delivery because my car will be done too soon? I then responded to the sales advisor that hey, i'm ready to walk away from this deal and lose $1000 of my money to prove a point. If you (sales adivisor) want to 1. close the deal 2. get all 5's on your report card after we're done 3. get more business from me, it's better you do what ever means necessary to get me my delivery date. So now he has 2 days to get back to me. Would any of you agree on my arguement? Does the dealer have any leverage on making this happen? what are my chances the dealer will find a way to accomodate? Should I contact BMWNA and send an email if I don't get what I want from the deal? Thanks, |

Not sure dealer has a lot of pull here
It's all about availability of the delivery specialists and the number of people who want to attend on that day.
I tried for a few Fridays but was told that Fridays were all full through May. Fridays fill up the fastest for obvious reason of people driving the car home ver the weekend. Ended up booking something for next Tuesday without actual delivery of the car. Program is called "The 101 Experience" and it entails everything that the normal PCD does without them walking you through your specific car. They can even give you a "mock delivery" on a similar car to yours if you want, but again, there are a limited number of delivery specialist personnel. Bottom line is that I don't think your dealer can do a lot for you. The availability is set by the Performance Delivery Center. Best of luck and if the timing won't work for the actual delivery ask your dealer about the "101 Experience" which can be redeemed for up to 1 year after delivery of your car. |

Your $60k are better than the 60 grand from other people who booked the same date ahead of you? How?

It's no different than the deli line. Take a number as it's not based on how much sandwich meat you are going to buy.

Agree with prior comments on PCD availability. They have a limited number of delivery bays and slots for the driving and tour sessions. I don't think your sales adviser has any control over PCD availability, unless he can convince them to bump another guy who just spend a decent sum on a BMW.
I've taken delivery via PCD and also attending a few of the driving schools. IMO the driving sessions and plant tour are the best part. You can schedule these independently, or even better if you can convince your deal to include in your purchase deal.

In my case, the dealer did make an effort but, due to backlogs, I would have have had to wait an extra 5 weeks. That was too long for me...

By no means is my $60k any better than Steve Jones on Maple Ave or Alice Wonderland's $115k on Priority Ave. It's just that I thought I did my research and the 1 dealer out of the possible 5+ dealers in a 30 mile radius I chose will do the right thing. |

You first find available PCD date, and then you schedule vehicle build date around that - so that it does not have to sit at the factory for months.

Dealer does not have any say in PC or the Munich pickup date. I have done PCD and my dealer will send email to PC and copy me, and from that point communication is between me and PC. I ask them what dates they have available around my pick-up time and then I choose from those dates.
Always deal directly with PC. I have their email in case you need. You can still ask them if there are any earlier dates available if you want to pickup early, and your car is ready. My last PCD was in 2 weeks notice and I just asked them what is the earliest date available. They gave me 3 date options. PCD is a busy place. On my last PCD, which was a weekday, the BMW shuttle bus which came to pick us up at Marriott was packed full. Still its worth the experience. They treat you good. Going to another dealer will mean your PCD being delayed even further. |
