I have done all of that too but for me the real value in the app is in its diagnostic ability. I've successfully used it to save myself a $4500 bill from my local BMW dealer and proving them wrong while managing to repair it myself was priceless.

Gonna pull the trigger on this app later today. One question before I do though is does it enable the DVD while driving feature?

I don't recall seeing that coding feature but it may be that I simply don't have that module in my car since it's a 2008 model and I think that only became a possibility with the second gen iDrive? I may be wrong of course. You can always contact the developer for clarification. Both Parvis and Arian are pretty good about responding to questions.

Just bought the iCar dongle on eBay today for my 2012 3.5i M Sport...can't wait to get into the app and code some stuff. Thanks OP for pointing this out as I was about to spend $200 on one time coding from another service!

I just downloaded the app waiting on the dongle I'm picking up locally off craigslist probably in the next couple of days. Fingers crossed everything works. I already installed the app on my iphone and ipad. I need to figure out whats the problem with my EDC malfunction.

So I'm gathering the $60 app + $60 cable + bluetooth connection and you can code your own car. I'm on android but have an ipad if needed. What's the difference with the $20 iCar dongle?

Why are some screenshots in German only?

Ok tried out the full version today. Thought I was able to code with my bluetooth elm but once it started to code it failed. Also I don't see as much options for coding but I'm wondering its because of the BT dongle.
Should I get their Bluetooth or wired dongle? Leaning more towards the cable just to avoid Bluetooth connection issues.

I have a 2008 model E70. I use the Bluetooth dongle supplied by INVINI and have zero issues with the app. It must be said though that the product is not specifically marketed as a coding app but rather the coding ability is simply one of the features within the product. For the diy service guy I think this app is a winner! The ability to register a new battery (including specify type), check and reset service codes, easy to understand fault code diagnosis, parameter monitoring - very handy feature! And as a bonus you get to code the most commonly requested mods.
