I now have a formal engineering complaint on the F15. The need to remove the right front fender to gain access to the windshield washer pumps. $1536 quoted.

This is not a case of "over-engineering", but a case of "irresponsible-engineering". Absolutely ludicrous.

Wish I knew a shortcut for the washer tank lunacy. I've watched a couple videos. Time to take on a diy.

Thought: the quote is to take everything apart as if replacing the whole tank. Maybe can get to the leaky fitting just removing the wheel well and flexing things.

Bmw tis uses similar to remove the headlights on e70 and I bet f15 also.

(Literally have a helper bend the fender out for clearance).

On my E70 I did the washer pump fix by loosening the back of the fender but did not remove the whole fender. Don't know if the F15 is the same. I can't see the tank on the F10 I bought last year and suspect same is true, i.e. tank is in the fender.

What did you do to / for your F15 today?

Hopefully someone did a write up but that's encouraging. I am betting F15 and E70 use very similar tank solution.

Looked up part for F15 and E70. They are very similar yet slightly different. If the fenders are still plastic on F15 I'm pretty confident a short cut like mention will work to get to the pump/gaskets

I found a YouTube video where the fender is left attached just enough screws removed or loosened to get into the cavity and remove/replace the leaky pumps.

Because the fender goes around the headlight it's a nightmare to do the full fender removal.

My wife has F10 but I think that has metal fenders so likely no shortcut there.

Just an oil change this time around, but I have a little gremlin visit with the Parking Brake warning every now and then. It only seems to happen in the presence of moisture or a cold temperature, so I'm betting on a dirty harness connector just like with the transmission harness I had on my E53.

I still owe you for that one! I was ready to open up my transmission to change out the neutral switch before you told me about your symptoms from water

Well 10,000 miles went by so it was in for an oil change, brake fluid flush and 4 wheel alignment. Handling was getting a little squirrelly with a trailer tongue load. Everything went well until it was time to set toe-in and they found the inner and outer tie rod adjustment threads seized. With a $2400 quote for replacement, I'll try some penetrating oil and torch heat first.

Honestly can't believe the incredible performance this thing can provide (29.1 mpg on my last 575 mile run), yet how something basic like a tie rod can seize up at 136,000 miles in Texas where there's no rust issues.

I've had to cut mine out in the past and on wife's 2001, i used a 24" Piper wrench and bent the outer tie rod.

Fortunately i did break it loose and iy didn't matter that it was bent I was able to do a decent string alignment on the car.
