Phonebook transfer problems

Phonebook transfer X-5, 4.8 with Sony-Ericsson.

I just purchased a 4.8, X-5 from the United States. I live in Iceland. It has a BMW assist/Bluetooth combo phonebox (Part number 694 6993- Telematic Control Unit) I just bought a Sony-Ericsson T-630 phone with software R7A011 here in Iceland. I was unable to find the same phone with the recommended R3A025 software.
My phone works fine except I can not get it to reload changes in the phonebook of the phone. Immediately after pairing it transferred the phonebook. I have tried unpairing and pairing again, but it does not help, updates to the phonebook do not transfer. It is also impossible to do this manually from the phone, because the phone says the Bluetooth connection is buisy. I also ca not delete the already imported phonebook into the car and start over. Can anybody help me out here. I hate to have to purchase a new ECE(European) version of the BMW assist. It costs about $-3000 here in Iceland (part number 6964113).
THANK YOU,
Gisli Vilhjalmsson

Dear x-5 sport. Thank you for trying to help out. Yes the Ericson phone works with the phonebook just of the phone not the SIM. When you first open the phone it asks you to copy everything of the SIM to the phone. I tried your suggestion by putting the SIM card in another phone, making a new entry and then moving the SIM card with the new entry to the Ericson phone. I depaired the phone and paired again, but the new entry does not transfer.
I wonder why BMW does not have a hotline to answer problems like these. Neither the dealer here in Iceland or the dealer in the States have no clue what the problem could be and they do not know who to ask. If anyone can help out I would appreciate it.

Regards,

phobook transfers

OK..I made a good step forward....to load a updated phone book into the bmw do this....

When you pair the 2 make a call from the phone from a contact that is NOT in your Favorites...make sure the call comes through the bmw and you should see the new revised phone book entries....when you hang up the list will go away from the bmw but it looks like after several minuites it will eventually load (like after 10 min or more)....

Dear dwathen. I could not get it to work. Can you be a little more specific at what time you made the call from the bmw. Was it during the pairing or right after. Usually the pairing takes a second or so.
THANKS
GISLI

I am not sure if you understood what i meant so will try again !!

If your phone has numbers stored in the phone memory it confuses the car kit because on most moden phones you can have 3 phone numbers under 1 name ie

IAN
HOME 902110
WORK 5196666
CELL 416888

Where on sim card
Ian H 902110
Ian W 519666
Ian C 416888

You must either delete numbers from phone or on some phone you have the option to use phone memory or sim card

Hope this helps

phone transferes

once you turn the car on..give it a few seconds...try making a phone call from your contact list-The one in the palm pilot list..the long one...pick a number that is NOT under your quick favorites list under the dial pad...once you make the call it should come through the bmw speakers...during teh call check your phone book on the car..your new updated numbers shoudl be there.....the problem i'm having now is once i hang the call up the phone book dissapears from the bmw....its like it has lost pairing once the call is gone....eventually the phone book will come back and stay..it has taken up to 30 min for that to happen, not sure why..try that
