Those are the correct cables - the problem lies within the Tuner or Sirius module.

Tom - in turbo38sfi's thread here, u mention him not
needing a new radio module based on his production
year and that u offer a complete kit. would this work
for me being that my X5 is an 05/03?

I'm not sure - you have the MKIV computer (updated OS) and compatible tuner. I would see if you can try another radio tuner.

well guys and gals, this thread is back.
i recently received my new Radio Module (65.12-6 976 961).
i'm about to give up on the whole Sirius dream. after installing
the new module, i received the same results as my old module.
the hidden menu values are the exact same as the old module.
Quote:
SW Level - 49
HW Level - 51
Diag Index - 31
BUS Index - 10
Encoding Index - 00
Supplier - 17
wtf? i am getting so frustrated at this point. don't be surprised
to see a Sirius Kit up for sale in the near future.

anyone have any new insight on what could possibly be the cause?

sledgehammer?

You have all of the correct parts (your former -399 radio is correct for Sirius as well). Try these two things:

First, go into your radio's service menu and make sure the radio is in USA mode. This is how you do that:

* Turn on your car
* If the radio is on, turn it off
* Turn the radio on
* Immediatly push and hold the SELECT button until the radio serial number shows (5 to 10 seconds)
* Use the < > keys to cycle through the menu until you see the AREA mode. The radio will likely be set to NOAREA.
* Use the 1 or 2 buttons to switch to different areas-- set it to US.
* Turn the radio off to save the settings
* Turn the radio back on and use it as normal.

Second, make sure that your nav computer is updated with the latest OS. Sirius will not work if you have an early OS release on your MKIV.

putting the module into USA mode was the 1st thing
i did when i put this new module in. as u said, it was
in NOAREA, but as i said, i changed it to USA.

my NAV system is running v26 w/ custom splash screen.
could this be why? what OS should i have in my NAV computer?

V24 or higher is needed for Sirius recognition - you're ok there.

Do you have a factory CD Changer in hand you can connect to the 3-pin and 6-pin harness to see if the connections are working properly?

Sorry if I missed prior references to US mode and OS V26. Both of those are where you should be. So you you got me. I thought that I had a silver bullet.

If you CDC is making noises when you push MODE, that means that your Sirius module is connected correctly, because the CDC gets its power and I-Bus signal from the Sirius module. You tried two different radio modules that both support Sirius, so you can eliminate that. I would focus on your nav computer...

What is the SW number on the label on top of your nav computer?

Brian, u didn't miss any earlier reference to US mode or
the OS version. i was simply referring to myself in the
same post.

w/ my most current radio module, when hooked up according
to the directions, when i press MODE, it goes from Radio - CD
-TAPE - TAPE - Radio. when i eliminate the Sirius module, it
goes from Radio - CD -TAPE - Radio. i'll have to check the SW
number on top of my NAV.

Tom - i'll check the connections again once i get home from work.
what i don't get is how this Radio Module has the same exact hidden
MENU values as my old Radio Module. that's y i was thinking i needed
to pull a fuse or disconnect the battery.
