As far as I am aware the system doesn't take any notice of the country field so it isn't necessary for you to change it however if you do want to change it make sure you are also changing the corresponding character count in the header of the url file as well ie.

POSWGS:S:20|VILLAGE:S:0|CITY:S:0|NAME:S:17|STREET: S:0|HOUSENUMBER:S:0|PHONE:S:0|COUNTRY:S:2|ENTP1:S: 20|ENTP2:S:0|ENTP3:S:0|ENTP4:S:0|ENTP5:S:0|ENTP6:S :0|ENTP7:S:0|ENTP8:S:0|ENTP9:S:0|BRANDNAME:S:0|_:S :0

and look for

COUNTRY:S:2

the value here must equal the length of whatever country you use.

It does seem from a lot of the feedback I have received at http://www.bmwnavaddpoi.co.uk that it is a bit hit or miss as to if the Nero method works. Some people are lucky and it just works but others find that no matter what they try and after checking all their settings are correct they just cannot burn a DVD that will work. However the ISO method does always seem to work for everyone who has tried it so I'd suggest anyone who is having problems creating a working DVD with Nero try giving the ISO method a try instead.

Hope this helps

The script was originally created by jav so the big thanks must go to him I've just put all the instructions together in one place and hopefully in a format that is easy for others to follow.

To add other POI's just follow the instructions again only this time put the new category in an appropriate group eg. if you wanted to add stores then it would make sense to add them to the 10005 group seeing as this is "Pub. places, businesses, shops"

However make sure you check your asc input files because the perl script is expecting an input file with 3 items of data only

Longitude,Latitude,Name

and some poi files have additional columns eg. I have an Underground Station one which has 4

Longitude,Latitude,Name,Details

so would need to get rid of this 4th column of data.

You also need to ensure the 3rd column, the Name data is enclosed in "" so each line in the asc file looks like

-0.21097,51.45882,"UdGr East Putney"

If you do have a 4th column one solution is to put your "" around both the 3rd and 4th column like I have done here

-4.258263,55.852014,"UdGr Bridge Street Subway,67 Eglinton Street, Glasgow, G5 9NR"
-4.252937,55.862411,"UdGr Buchanan Street Subway,174 Buchanan Street, Glasgow, G1 2LW"
-4.29452,55.852368,"UdGr Cessnock Subway,1 Cessnock Street, Glasgow, G51 1AS"

which effectively results in just the one column which the script is happy with.

As long as your input files are of this format

Longitude,Latitude,Name
n.nnnnn,n.nnnnn,"aaaaaaaa"

you should be ok.

you'll have to wait for the next NAV DVD to be released, there is a problem with the 2006-02 disk. Someone contacted BMW about the postcode thing and the reply they got back was:

Dear XXXXX

BMW UK can confirm that due to a technical issue with the latest navigation disc (issue:2006-2) supplied by NAVTEQ, the option for postcode address entry has not been programmed correctly.

Therefore for version 2006-02 all navigation inputs will require to be entered via the full address mode.

This only affects vehicles equipped with Professional navigation on the CCC platform for the following model series:

E87 -BMW 1 Series
E90/E91/E92 -BMW 3 Series Saloon, Touring and forthcoming New 3 Series Coupé
E60/E61 -BMW 5 Series Saloon and Touring
E63/E64 -BMW 6 Series Coupé and Convertible

The fault has been located to an incorrect data file on the new navigation disc and the Factory is currently looking into possible solutions to overcome this issue.

We can confirm that every effort is underway to resolve this issue, and will be resolved in due course.

May we suggest you register your concern to our BMW Approved Dealership who in turn will be able to offer further assistance once details have been announced by our suppliers.

postcode search for London does still seem to work though!

Other end of the country, Kent!

Those entries were taken from a poi file of Underground stations and the entries for those stations just happened to illustrate what I was saying about the 3rd and 4th coumns

Hello,

now, I have the radar POI for europe transfer to my dvd 2-2006 europe.
But I have a newbie question to the POI function, because I dosen`t have advantage the POI function in the foretime.

I go to the menu and can search all POIs what the system has, but what must I do, that the POIs are on the display during the navigation?
My nav screen is splitted, on the left is the map and on the right the navi dart.

Thorsten
