tugpilot,
I'm not sure if v27 allows bird's view. I think v27.1 did, and I am sure V28 does. In any case you have first to enter the service mode menu and enable "perspective" view (it is called "panorama" in the Spanish version). After that you will find a new "perspective" option in the user menu, together with "North up" and "Vehicle heading up" options you already have. To enter the service mode menu go to the main menu and select and enter the "set" option. Then press the "menu" key continuously until the service mode menu appears (it will take some 10 seconds or more). Once in the service mode scroll down past the last option into the second screen. In my car the "perspective" option is the first (and only option) in the second screen. Regards PD: This message has been edited to correct a gross mistake in its original wording. It previously referred to the radio service menu instead of the service mode menu as it does now. I am sorry I might have been misleading some of you. I finally succeeded in coding VIN and body type into the car computer. I had some problems with the making of the I-Bus interface but it seems these are over now. Thank you RolandDV for it.
I now have “Auto emergency call” activated, and a new option for “BMW Assist” in the main menu. - Does anybody know what is “Auto emergency call” supposed to do? Is it related to the S.O.S. option in the telephone menu? Does it actually call someone automatically? What is it that triggers the call? Who is it it calls? Would it be a voice call or a SMS call? Any of the telephone numbers to be keyed in the “telematics settings” screen have any meaning to this regard? What numbers should I key in for Spain? - What is “BMW Assist”? What telephone numbers in the “telematics settings” screen refer to “BMW Assist? What telephone numbers should be keyed-in? Thank you |

In many countries BMW Assist is a subscription service, here in New Zealand I do not believe the local BMW dealer offers the service. Ask at your BMW Dealer if BMW Assist is available in Spain, and what the charges are. |

Thank you Kiwi.
From your answer I understand that Emergency Call may work, once the proper phone numbers are keyed in the system, but that BMW Assist will not work unless it is available in my country and I have subscribed to it. There are three numbers to key: - SMSC CENTRE - SMS number - Cust. Service I guess the first two numbers refer to the Emergency Call and the last one to BMW Assist. Can you confirm my assumptions? Thanks |

SMSC Centre is the SMS message centre that your mobile service provide specifices. Look it up on your cellphone.
SMS number is the number to send the emergency call text messages to Cust Service is the number to call BMW customer service (voice call I think) Once you have the SMSC centre number set, you can ender the SMS number of a friends cellphone and send him the text message. Try it! |
