Wich Mk version do you have?3 or 4?

If you have an Mk3, so you need .iso in mode2 otherwise is not necessary.

ekonet, I had the same problem. I was extracting the usw_load files from the disk, changing them then re-inserting them back into the iso file. What you have to do is extract ALL the files from the disk and then change the usw_load files. I changed all of them since I did not know which directory my nav unit was taking the files from, folders 0103, 0116 and 0127. If it is updating the software but failing to update the logo then update all the usw_load files since yours may be taking the update from one of the other directories.

Once this is done use mode2cdmaker (the edited version made by Jochen, I posted link earlier) and drag and drop ALL the files to gui and then follow Jochen's instructions.

Symbian, I take it from your posts that you have managed to revive your mk3 and get the logo on as well. Yay!

Jochen, from the other thread, you manged to change the menu text. Which file did you edit to do that. Looks very slick and yet more customisation

Also, going sightly off topic, well done on the NavCoder app BTW, very neat. And NavSpeak. Wow, we can't be far from being able to test everything on our PC being updating the software! I was considering getting a iBus interface, but not sure how much use it would be to me. If I could do other things with it (like add on one of the extra options, i.e. auto roof down from key, open windows etc) the would consider it. Do you know if this is possible.

One of the things that is tucked away but annoys me if whehn you update the software the VIN number and vehicle model changes. I know you can change from NavCoder, is it not possible to hack some hex code into the update desk somewhere?

thanks
Kam

I found on my Mk3 that the HW Version = directory number.
My Mk3 was HW Version 116, so loaded from 116 directory

Have a look in the service menu (Set, then press-and-hold Menu) and look at Nav/graphic service menu. It shows the HW version

Menu text for all 6 languages is also stored in usw_load file.
Use NavTweak v2.6 to edit the text.

If it is a standard BMW option then it is a question of programming, and yes, everything is possible when I find out the right ibus commands

If not a standard option then you must make hardware to manage the code. I am thinking of making a basicstamp to do this...

No, the nav unit needs recoding to change these settings. Thats what I made NavCoder for. But on my car the settings have not changed from v6.3 to v6.4 and v6.5 (all new images, new text)

Cheers, Jochen (currently my E39 is in pieces while I fit the OEM trailer light control module)

Hi guys, here I'm

I found this OBD connector to interface my car with only three of four pins that Resler's module has, so I don't need to remove cd reader in boot.

Which pins among the green ones as shown below, should I use?
Thanks
