My problem is that my navi doesn't read any modified CD. But all downloaded CD images - without any problems. Why?
The pic looks a little on the big side, that's maybe the problem?

I'd like to change my splash screen at picture below. Could you?
No problem, I've added your pic to the update image, so here yer go mate, download, unzip, then use imgburn to burn to a good quality CD-R use the slowest rated speed of the blank and follow the update procedure.

When its finished writing your new firmware cd,
Goto the car open the drivers door,
Goto the nav computer and press eject on drive,
Eject the map disc,
Switch ign to pos 1, leave door open.
Insert firmware disc into drive, follow instruction on nav screen.
Wait (approx 6 mins) till sat nav asks to eject cd and reboot.
Eject cd,
Confirm reboot.

Thats it.

Do not switch off ignition or close the door when doing the upgrade.

HTH

Hello,
I have been reading this thread with great interest.
I recently bought a Rover75 (from when BMW were making them) with the Hi-Line 4:3 Sat nav in but my splash screen shows BMW on booting up, I would very much like to change this to a nice Rover Logo.
My Drive is a Mk3 with BMW firmware 3-1/63 with the splitscreen option (which i would like to keep as the Rover firmware is naff)

I really havent got a clue where to start on modifying a disk etc. and I understand i would need to install an earlier firmware to enable me update again to the latest version.

Would anyone please be able to help me make the disk images i would need to do this.
I have tried the rover forums but they all point me over here to you nice chaps..

many thanks...Dean

PS - I am after something like this (don't know if this would have to be cropped or changed to fit my 4:3 screen ???)

Jester - you have the image right there, and of the correct 400 x 234 size. Just change it to a .gif image and you're sorted. Replace the existing ===BMW=== .gif image using NavTweak in the file detailed by the link and instructions from KiwiJochen in the first post of this topic.

Obviously you will have to manually edit the software version to force an update, as Jochen did by using 6.40 in the above info. Once you've made all the necessary adjustments burn it (Mode 2 - important for a MK III unit!) and load it. If you don't understand any of what I've just said, or the advice given originally by Jochen, or with burning images, I wouldn't attempt it without step by step assistance.
