I think , FIRST!!!! you has upgrade to version greater than v17 (example : V 20 , next use cd-key, and next only use modified sv2color), because if MKIII has newer sw of 17 does not need cd-key!!!!

You cannot change a mono (x-2/xx) to colour (x-1/xx) by just inserting the OS disc.

You have to instruct the nav, via special software commands, in a special sequence, to change the output mode. Then it will load the right type of software from the OS disc.

My NavCoder program can do this for you: just click a button and NavCoder will change the unit from Mono to Colour.

NavCoder is shareware, and costs 20 Euros, and you can download it here

Cheers, Jochen

I assume if you have a mono that you mean you have the radio nav sa606 system. If so, then the swap to the 16:9 color map system, sa609, is not so simple. I think you need some rewiring harnass and a trunk radio as well as a recode of your MKIV. Jochen can tell you the details. Is your car a RHD radio nav? The last 7 numbers of your VIN will tell me for sure which system you have.

You can do this with V31 to, same directions, just use v31 instead.

Buy the interface or build it yourself. Details are in the Readme.txt file in the NavCoder.zip file.

You hook the laptop to the interface with a cable and then you hook the interface to the car with 3 wires. 12 volt, ground, and to the I-bus. Then run the Navcoder program along with nav OS disk. An example of the interface is the Resler Device.

Hey guy's...
Im very confused here, so hopefully it's not a very silly question - here goes:

Is all this necessary, I thought the nav was in full color? Can someone please post some pictures of this great mod?

There are two versions of the navigation system. There is the full color version with the screen in the dash. Then there is a version that has a simple monochrome display with limited graphics on the radio instead of the full-size color screen. Both systems use the same nav computer, but the nav computer must be coded to know which type of display is in the car. If you get a MKIV coded for the monochrome system, then it will not work with the in-dash color display until you get it recoded.
