HELP - Nav wont accept disc?
I called my dealer & they said they only replace them, not repair. I then called BMW North America and was told, very rudely, that there was a way to get them repaired but I had to take it to the dealer. Does anyone know who does repair on the Nav computers/DVD mechanisms? I am happy to send it anywhere to get it fixed. Thanks in advance! |

Is there any possibility that there is a disk already in the nav computer?
I am guessing that there is a disk in the unit already. You may have to partially disassemble it to verify and then remove it. Maybe that will clear it up.

Turn the ignition off, wait 15 minutes. See if you can unplug all the cables including the power from the unit. Wait 30 Minutes then plug everything back in. Computer equiptment is crazy stuff and sometime denying them resources make them reboot.

Definitely a problem with the unit
Thanks for the advice
Already tried all of the above, no disc in it. Even removed the unit (very easy, 4 bolts) & took off the cover (just pops off), verified no disc in it. Tried disconnecting power for a while & plugging back in to reset - No luck. Anyone know where I send it for repair? |

Internal mechanism may be jammed.
Rollers may be worn Motor gears may be stripped. Children may have 'posted' something inside the nav You can try any electronics shop that has experience repairing DVD mechanisms, or send to the VDO factory in Germany, or buy a replacement new mechanism from the guys in Holland Or get another nav (that's what BMW do) |
