MG Rover to BMW

Hello, From Scotland , and as I have read some interesting posts
on your site, on how to fit sat nav/systems and as I have a 1999 E46 323i se BMW
and trying put a rover/landrover sat nav system into it, if it is possible, I am hoping you guys would help me out on a few things .here is the list of parts that I
have. NG E46 RETRIOFIT NAV/LOOM
Headunit/monitor 4.3

* H/W 46, S/W 42

Tuner/gps/cd changer control & receiver etc

(can you tell me what tuner this is on the bmw part)

MG/Rover nav/ computer PART number YIB 000260
* Colour ROVNMMK IOO-00
* H/W 1.2, S/W 4.2 MADE IN FRANCE
LAND ROVER PART NUMBER YIB500040
(is this nav /computer a Mk 111)
ANY HELP WOULD BE MOST HELP FULL BMWJACK.

BMW is documented much more extensively than Rover.

You should read the correct Nav Retro-fit instructions for your car, and compare your Rover parts with the original BMW parts.

Here's some notes:

Wiring loom - good, you have what appears to be the right loom

4:3 Monitor - this is a Rover part number. IT will most likely physically not fit the dash of an E46 - buit I cannot say for sure.

Tuner - you state " Tuner/gps/cd changer control & receiver etc" - these are 3 separate devices: Tuner, GPS receiver, and CD changer. What are you trying to describe? Your post is confusing

Rover Nav - I think this is a MkIII nav. It is loaded with rover software so will show a Rover splash screen when starting up

You also need the brackets, and a GPS antenna. Refer to the retrofit instructions to determine what parts you do not have.

The tuner that I have is from a MG Rover and I have been told these tuners are bmw parts ,what I am trying to find out is what bmw tuner
it is , on the tuner it reads made by SIEMENS VDO in GERMANY and the
TYPE NO 22DC785/60T
RG PART N0 XQC 100440 and RG785W41039425

Have you got any clue which one it is.

Rover part numbers do not match the BMW part numbers. there is no correlation whatsoever.

The only way to recognise the radio is for you to post some photos of it, showing the connector, the label, and preferrably the insides as well.

I pretty sure that the 4:3 monitor is identical to the BMW unit, (without the BMW logos on the front) upgrading the rover 4:3 to the BMW 16:9 is quite common upgrade.

All the parts are the same (95% sure), but get the BMW nav drive (mk3 or mk4), however as jochen says post some pics up (just to be sure).

Thank you for help , I was told this don't bother with the Standard Rover Tuner as a BMW BM24 with dual Tuner which is an exact match with the existing wiring and a much better choice ! and I think these are the ones bmw used before they change to bm 54 ones.

Right, you must have the 17 round pin connector then, go for the BMW tuner then as well as the nav computer.

You just need the centre AC relocation unit (get it from the dealers, its cheaper than ebay), the GPS antenna and TV tuner if needed.

AH, The tuner as got 17 round pins connector ,but the ng sat/nav wiring loom as got the flat pins,and is it possible to get an adapter to change one to another, or splice one on.

I think you can get a convertor, not sure about the 2 smaller (10/12 pin) plugs that plug into the bottom of the big radio module plug though, you may also need to convert them too.

You could probably make a 17 round pin to 40 quadlock convertor out of two SOT leads, It would cost about £15/£20, (fairly straight forward, if you're handy with a soldering iron).

Or replace the tuner for a newer BM54.
