The Range Rover nav system for the RRs that were made by BMW is the same as the BMW system fitted to E38, E39, X5 etc. |

That fact is true, but I have already confirmed with several sources including Navteq that the RR discs will not work in the BMW.

I was fitting BMW map discs to Range Rovers, and the reversal was also true. Because the system was the same, both cars could read the same maps Of course, you cannot fit the BMW disc to the Ford nav system that the Ford-Range Rover used. Only to the BMW-Range Rover. |

Yeah maybe country specific. The problem is with the USA since BMW Europe, etc. has had at least 2 map updates since our last one. According to all the info I've received none of the Range Rover discs will work in the BMW Nav system. Don't get me wrong I'd love for it to not be true and if someone is willing to let me test our their discs then I'll happily do so. Do you by any chance know what is the Land Rover equivalent Xoutpost forum?
Here's one for you. Drop Navcoder and make nav updates for older BMW systems using the latest updates from new BMW systems! Quote:

Range Rover has at least 2 nav systems from 2 completely different suppliers with totally incompatible map formats BMW has in the last 10 years had 2 different manufacturers and at least 4 or 5 different, non compatible map formats So you need to be more specific... Nah. Someone else is working on it ;-) |

Good point.
For BMW - I'm basically referring to the MK IV USA DVD based system used in the USA that reads the NavTeq "High" discs. For Land Rover - I'm referring to the DVD based system that is in the current USA Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and LR3 reads their NavTeq DVD discs. If you go to the website to buy the disks (Navteq - Maps for your LandRover Navigation System) you'll see that any Range Rover, Range Rover Sport or LR3 from 2005+ uses the same DVD discs (Product Number: 6H42-10E898-BD) (which are now the 2009-2010 version). The LR2 apparently uses different DVD discs (Product Number: 6G92-10E898-FE) so I am assuming it has a different system altogether. Quote:

Interesting quote, especially since I never said this

That was weird. I was quoting from two different people, but somehow your name got tied to both. That actually came from Kiwijochen. I went back and edited my post to correctly attribute the quote to its author.
