Just googled that. Sounds interesting! I'm concerned on how to get down there without her suspecting, mmmm? Also timing would have to be key. Weather, sunset, and crowds. I'd probably go during the week so that might help with it being crowded. Thanks I'll keep that in mind:thumbup:

With patience and humility and hard work they generally do. Get her a BMW, won't hurt.

Sounds like a keeper! ;)
You've been together for a while now so you must have a shared tradition, special event, a common interest or even a running gag that you can work off of. IMO, doing something grand just doesn't cut it if there isn't some underlying shared meaning to it (other than the obvious one).

Best of luck and let us know what you decide on!

Or how about take her to dinner at Tavern on the Green and propose there. Tavern on the Green is a nice restaurant in Central Park. There should be a website for it. Or you could do it in a carriage ride thru Central Park on the way to the Restaurant.

Just an idea...whatever you decide good luck...

only if you want to get food poisoning.... there are better places

I popped the question while enjoying a bottle of wine alone on a chartered yacht at sunset in the British Virgin Islands. We both love to sail so it was special for us.

I agree with rayxi - try to do someting that involves a shared tradition or common interest.

Good luck and have fun.

I asked 2 different people that I know up in Hoboken, NJ and they both recommended the same place. I was just trying to give some suggestions to help out. Not from the area so I figured I would consult some people (with fairly decent taste) for some ideas. Oh well...whatever you do will be fine...she'll just be ecstatic that you asked...you just need it to be special for ALL the times she tells the story to her friends, family, strangers, etc.

lol! i was only saying that because there was an article in the paper last week about a woman suing them for food poisoning, i keep forgetting that not everyone reads the NY papers... no offense intended....

Any of the "top 5" romantic restaurants listed in the NYC Zagats will be more than outstanding, and expensive to match... TotG does a lot of corporate parties and the room(s) are HUGE so it doesn't really have that romantic feel to it.

The Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center might be a good choice, mostly because they just reopened the observation deck on the roof so dinner and a stroll out to the deck might do the trick without having to change venue from dinner to "proposal locale", or might facilitate working the proposal into either before/during/after dinner all at the same place.

And St Patrick's Cathedral is across the street if you're of the Roman Catholic persuasion and feel like stopping in to let God in on the good news after you're done :) :) :)

Also, don't ask people from NJ about good restaurants in NYC, some, not all, but some (no offense intended to residents of my newly adopted State) think that Olive Garden in Times Square is some good Italian :)
